✨🤲✨ Here’s a set recording at one of the last of a festival-filled summer: @sustain-release-nyc

No set theme/mood, just a journey thru a bunch of tunes I really do love and hoped people would enjoy; but to quote my girl @livwutang, it was rooted in a love for Black music (this mix cover was taken by her during the set <3). Stitching together threads of dubstep, jazz, house, breaks, garage, hip hop, dub, etc.

At some points this kinda feels more like a beat tape with selector style mixing + no long blends. A lil fusion of tired/nervous/letting the tunes shine

Thank you @itsallhalal + the rest of the team for the opportunity to close The Gym on Fri night and for looking after me. And ofc out to the amazingly welcoming dancers inside ❤️

This Friday, Nov 7 at 1pm Pacific on @particlefm. :: diego is relatively new to the seattle music scene. he enjoys dub, dubstep, and big synth pads. “This mix is influenced by parties I attended this summer and mixing at home with my friends. It ranges from lush, moody chuggers to rattling bass music. I had a lot of fun putting together a set of tracks with the primary objective being ‘music to listen to’ not explicitly ‘music to dance to’, though that line can blur very easily.

Aubrey has been releasing dope records for more than 30 years and has founded five labels. He also runs the Latitude record store in Berlin, and he’s still remixing, mastering, djing, and involved in all things music. It’s safe to say that he is a true legend. Enjoy!

Every so often a plum opportunity presents itself. The best ones are timeslips - for a few hours things can be turned on their heads and anything is possible: Ecstatic dancing at an immersive deep listening party? Sure. No mixing? Yup. We’ll just play wonky emotional bangers about joy? 100%!

On Saturday 12th October that’s pretty much exactly what happened at The Baths in Hackney Wick, London. A few hundred of us joined together to dance for hours on end, but the communal release, the expression of love and joy ended up being so much more than that. This recording captures something of the spirit of that moment. We hope you can feel it as much as we did.

Roland released the TR-606 “Drumatix”, the cosmetic twin to the TB-303, in 1981. At the dawning of the digital era, two of the most influential producers in reggae - Prince Jammy in Kingston and Bullwackie in The Bronx - each bought one, adding to their increasingly electronic rhythm and bass sections. Nearly ten years later it would be phased out in favor of Casios and Yamahas - digital samples taking over in lieu of synthetic analog sounds. But in this period of around 1983 to 1985, as dancehall switches from roots playing and jamming towards the harder, stripped down sound of the 90s, the simultaneously sharp and soft sound of the TR-606 can be heard in many classics. This mix is an ode to that era of dancehall and the mighty TR-606.
