Sneaky Disco EP152 Featuring Good2Groove & Guest Mix from Robbie Casa Blanco

As always a very warm welcome along to this fortnights show. Spring is in the air and with the clocks going forward tomorrow night we have given the nod to summer through our opening 4 tracks.

Our Bandcamp Beat this weeks showcases an uptempo slab of classic disco house from Route 8's alias DJ Ciderman with a track called 'Be Mine'. Originally released in 2017 but now available through This Is Our Time.

New releases come courtesy of Young Pulse, Dam Swindle, Mijangos, Full Intention, Emmaculate & Shannon Chambers and Mike Dunn to name a few. The selection showcases sounds from wordwide to house with plenty of synth, soul & funk to keep you interested.

Label Focus travels to Scotland this week with the wonderous Fresh Take Records and their whistling milkshake. Edits & productions come courtesy of Correlate, Baume & Jakob Apelian.

Exclusively to wax is a record from Manchesters own James Greenwood under his Semi Skimmed Edits label. 5am Saint is the disco cut that we all need in our lives right now.

We are delighted to announce that our guest mix is provided by a DJ and producer that we hold in the highest regard through Boogietraxx. 

Austin, Texas-based Boogietraxx hails from New York, USA. As a rhythmic renovator of retro funk, Boogietraxx offers a lens into the discoverse that brought dance music to the masses but offers a uniquely soulful and modern twist.

Born in Staten Island, NY and now living in Austin, TX for the last few years, Boogietraxx, is helmed by producer/DJ Brandon Keeks who’s also ½ of Hot Fun. And he brings an array of influences in his soundscapes that feature filter house, French touch, and filter funk.

Sunday Sessions 11th April '21

Welcome to Episode 53, which starts off slow for once with a little selection of mellow but extremely funky little numbers, before I crank up the pace for some disco house and nu disco mingled in with jazzy stuff, 80s funk and some classic disco. As always it’s a mixed bag, with one eye always firmly on the funk.
 
For hour 2 it’s my pleasure to welcome Belgian DJ and producer Mattijs Van Loy, also known as Mavalo, who brings you a lovely hour of disco flavoured, soulful, housey and exotic beats. 

Mavalo started DJing in 2015 and quickly scored a residency and festival slots, as well as a set on the main stage of Destino (Pacha Beachclub) in Ibiza. After being a DJ for a couple of years he wanted to explore if he could make his own productions as well. With 'Chocolate' Mavalo had his first official release in June 2020 on ChessBoard Music. Later that year he released his ‘Feet Will Move’ EP on the mighty Midnight Riot Records. Mavalo can be followed on Facebook, Instagram, Bandcamp and Soundcloud. Every month a new mixtape called ‘Recordbox’ is uploaded on Soundcloud in which he presents a fine selection of fresh new tunes. 

Mavalo doesn't think too much in terms of genres. Far more importantly, the vibe is all that matters to him. However, if a particular style has to be marked, then an energetic mix of Disco House, Jackin' House, Jazzy House and Future Funk would give you a pretty good idea.
