Black Light Disco burst back onto the MyHouseRadio airwaves like an action star through a fake plate glass window - gripping another suitcase full to the brim of delicious funky delights for your listening pleasure. 

Hosting the show this week from our newly refurbished ‘Loleatta Holloway’ wing here in BLD Towers are the Welsh Wizards themselves, the incomparable Pookie Knights. Fresh from a beer tasting weekend in the home town of Wrexham, the boys will be spending the first hour in the company of Dave Lee, Dr Packer, Ultra Nate and Igor Gonya amongst others.

Live @ Love Will Fix It (Carlton Club Manchester Sept '21)

Usual silly BPM business from me on this episode, starting at about 112, right up to 126, down to under 100, then back up. Always a rollercoaster! Along the way I dropped the new chart topper from my good friend Pete Ellison, Boogietraxx, Shalvoy and a load more. I also included something from Moodymann, simply because I had the privilege of seeing him this Saturday just gone in what’s basically my local park. Awesome stuff. There's also a new one from myself, forthcoming on Hive Label.

For hour 2 it fills me with joy to welcome back my good friend and fellow Disco Walton Ken Avalon, AKA Discoholic Ken, AKA Kenny Ken Ken, AKA Kenmark for a second guest mix. The first one was waaaaay back in episode 25, right at the start of covid, and I didn’t know him at all. But since then we’ve become good friends despite still being yet to meet in real life. He runs an awesome blog at discoanon.com, an excellent show called Hot To The Touch on Friday nights on primeradio.gr, and a record label - Discoholics Anonymous Recordings - that I’ve been lucky enough to release a couple of tracks on, and I’ve got more lined up. I honestly regard Ken as my Disco Brother, and I couldn’t be happier to get him back on. 

Ken’s mix is to me like an immaculately curated little snapshot of disco right now. Not all of the songs are brand new, but there’s a very generous sprinkling of the freshest and best tracks out there at the moment. I’d expect nothing less from someone who devotes so much time to keeping his finger on the pulse of the scene and promoting, pushing and championing the music that we love. So join us for a tour through disco as it stands right this moment.

This week's Spin City Show that aired live on myhouseradio.fm celebrated it's 4th anniversary of being on air. For this special occasion I had a special guest on board for all of your ear lobes. None other than the one and only Eddie C.

Keep It Funky

This week’s special guest is one of the most prolific producers in the disco world, a man with boundless energy and creativity when it comes to releasing a constant stream of top quality edits. It gives me great pleasure to welcome Pete Le Freq!

** PETE LE FREQ BIO **
Pete started producing over 12 years ago, and made a bit of noise with his house label Llama Farm Recordings. He's been remixed by Jay-J, Eric Kupper and Kenny Summit, appeared on compilations with Joey Negro and LCD Soundsystem, and played alongside the likes of Crazy P, Inland Knights, CagedBaby and a few others.

Since discovering the things he was sampling were better than the things he was making, Pete found that retouching and reworking the originals gave him his producing mojo back, and soon after Alpaca Edits was born.

The York based edits label has since become home to disco superstars such as Dr Packer, Chuggin Edits, and Mannix. He’s been resident DJ at Sotano in York for the last 7 years, and this has fuelled his productions to greater heights. He’s known for playing 5 hour sets that incorporate both his new productions and others versions of serious disco action.

2019 has seen Pete get a vinyl release alongside the likes of Fingerman, Al Kent and Sleazy McQueen on Samosa Recordings, produce remixes for the likes of Hot Digits and Midnight Riot, as well as having 4 eps of his reworks on his own Alpaca Edits. He’s also debuted at Tramlines Festival in Sheffield, and made a return to rock the Toil Trees stage at Beatherder for the second year running.
November saw him support Michael Gray and Fingerman at Distrikt in Leeds and Derek Kaye in York. The year ended with him beating the likes of Mousse T and Ray Mang in the Traxsource Nu-Disco Top 100 Artists of the year.

Lockdown saw Pete go into rework overdrive, running a weekly Thursday night stream, as well as starting a regular show on Street Sounds Radio. He also worked with Ashley Slater of Freak Power on some original tracks.

2021 has seen the return of Pete’s That Needs An Edit nights in York, and will culminate in December with a guest slot from Shaka Loves You. Roll on 2022!

He plays tunes from across the decades, genres and BPMs, mixing up hidden gems with tried and tested favourites, with a focus on sweet, sweet Disco music brought right up to date for modern dancefloors.

As a DJ he’s taken his trademark rollercoaster genre-fluid sets to locations including Glastonbury, ADE and Westival, playing parties for Midnight Riot, Good Custard, Project Bango, Pineapple Police Horse and DiscNoTheque. And as a producer he’s released on over 20 labels labels including Tropical Disco, Hot Digits, Mango Sounds, The Disco Express, Midnight Riot and TheBasement Discos.
