This month’s freebie comes from none other than Curtis Mayfield. Of course he’s got a load of great tunes, and one of those is Tripping Out, which is all soulful vocals and soaring strings - classic Mayfield. My version has ended up as a sort of broken beat thing - I’ve sped things up a notch (but not too much), let that lovely bass do its thing and made it a bit more friendly for the mellower mixed DJ set. He plays tunes from across the decades, genres and BPMs, mixing up hidden gems with tried and tested favourites, with a focus on sweet, sweet Disco music brought right up to date for modern dancefloors.
