Accordionist Susanna Dill and dulcimer player (and in other places drummer) Gilbert Paeffgen come together to form this exciting duo. With the two " rustic " instruments hammered dulcimer and accordion, the two go off the beaten track on a journey full of surprises and small charming sensations.

At the same time the two producers also return to their roots of electronic dance music. This includes remixes of the techno pioneer Marco Repetto, the newcomers Tastatur and also the ambitious collective of Mathon.

Digitalis - Morphosis

Born 1966 in Solothurn. 1981 he started playing drums in various reggae bands. Lived in Jamaica between 1985 and 1990 where he gained a lot of experiences in music and culture.
1999 he changed to the more electronic side of dub music and played under a variety of different names as live dub artist. 2009 he finally started with the Chris Dubflow live dub project. 
He has always been working with an MPC and analog stuff. The same old school equipment is still in use nowadays, live as well as in the studio. Chris prefers the classic workflow, just like Lee Perry (8 track recording, mixing console, periphere effects and intuition). Go with the flow, this is Chris Dubflow.

A beat a day for one entire year: The mission that Bern based drummer and sound forager Julian Sartorius began on 1st of January 2011. The results were released on a daily basis on his blog from January to mid-July – the rest of the year’s beats temporarily remaining undisclosed. The recorded tracks were created without electronic effects, samples or loops: every single hit was actually played, all the sounds are real – only overdubs were used, as Julian has no more than two hands to work with.

The Beat Diary is now, for the first time, available in its entirety in an adequate analogue manner: consisting of 365 beats pressed on 12 LPs, accompanied by 365 photos. It’s telling the story of Julian’s year: a year between kitchens, the city of Berlin, mountains, hotel rooms and backstage areas from all over the world. Field recordings subtly woven in unique beat architectures, including light switch snapping, vacuum cleaner rustling, plastic pig squeaking, pianos rattling, electric toothbrush buzzing, musical boxes turning until, at the very end, the new year’s fireworks bang.

Thanks to an outrageous inventiveness, the combination of the likes of JDilla, Aphex Twin, the club, the Black Atlantic, sounds from the congotronic and minimal music, the result is a pure delight. These beats will create knots in the brain, being highly encrypted at times, and still will lead to contemplation and make you want to dance. Long story short, these productions expand listening habits without any effort.

Having previously collaborated on the soundtrack to the muti-media production “Daimonion” for Heartcore Collective and sharing a love and appreciation for all forms of music, Patrick Podage and Babalon Anon fuse their diverse tastes sitting together in the studio and working from the start to formulate each track for the project “On the Other Side of the Mirror”.

Babalon Anon describes the pace and vibe of the track sometimes suggesting samples. Each tune is then created with Babalon Anon present so that continual feedback allows Patrick Podage to mould a variety of multi-genre tunes to fit the lyrical content. After Babalon Anon lays down the vocal they return to the tune to add often amusing embellishments and musical in-jokes to provide a unique fusion of sound and wordplay. 
Enjoying the collaborative process, they take their respective arts seriously but do not take themselves seriously.

«Lost Places» is an extensive photo-series by Stefan Flückiger. The Bern based photographer sought out abandoned industrial areas and subterranean canals that have been gradually retrieved and sprawled by nature. 
These pictures of deserted industrial spaces inspired the music collective Mathon for their new – already 6th – release «Lieus Pers». The photographs show places such as the old town-hall canal of Bern, dating back to the 17th Century, which was allegedly used as an escape route for the city government. 
These pictures of lost places are overlaid with nature imagery from Domleschg, there where the village of Mathon is located. Mathon core members Thomas Augustiny, Pete Aurel Leuenberger and Roger Stucki have created 12 sound researches for «Lieus Pers».
Ambient sound researches for which, the three musicians visited these submerged and meanwhile lost places, scattered all across Switzerland. Electro-acoustic tracks emerged, recalling these dystopian constructions and echoing a potential contemporary soundtrack for Andrei Tarkovsky’s film-opus «Stalker».
Layers of time and space interfere on the album «Lieus Pers» for which Mathon also invited musical chums and companions such as Mich Meienberg, Maria Capelli, Nicolas Kellner, Julian Sartorius and the band Digitalis to contribute to the oeuvre.
Combined with the digitally alienated photographs, the album is a quest for traces, conciliating graphics and sound, past and present, nature and technology.
«Lieus Pers», Rhaeto-Romanic for «lost places», is an impressive contemporary document by Mathon collective, whose tracks already featured on «The Wire Tapper» CD-series by UK music magazine «The Wire».

A document that transforms strange industrial and nature architecture into cleft soundscapes.

Yannick Barman and Cyril Regamey describe KiKu as a modular, avant-garde machine which, thanks to its modular system and open line-up, is never complete and continually dares to push boundaries.
Founded 11 years ago as an acoustic improvisation duo, Barman and Regamey the band’s trumpeter and percussionist have been taking on a more varied and flexible musical form. In February 2003 during a series of 20 concerts at the Swiss Théâtre de l’Oriental in Vevey they developed a sound that ventured into the realms of electronic music and since then have been tearing down the boundaries which often still divide jazz, classical chamber music, electro and rock.
This journey into as yet unexplored soundscapes has taken KiKu around the World to Vietnam, New York and the Willisau Jazz Festival. They’ve met many musicians, from Malcolm Braff to local Big Bands (Léon Francioli, Franco Mento, Julian Sartorius, Jean-Pierre Schaller among others) with whom they’ve collaborated on their different projects.
For the first time ever Barman and Regamey who met at the Lausanne Conservatory are working with words for `Marcher sur la tête’ their third album to date. For KiKu the spoken word serves as primary material, as open code, on this current project. They took words from the poem ‘Belehrung’ by the German poet Hermann Hesse and introduced these free elements which are complemented by David Doyon’s electrifying guitar into their steadily growing tracks.
The voice that recites these words is none other than that of Blixa Bargeld from Einstürzende Neubauten. Guided by a seductive Bargeld the listener is taken through a forbidding landscape that he ploughs through with his recital. From time to time the New York rapper and slam poet Black Cracker takes up the sceptre with his freestyle lyrics, thereby significantly widening the field that KiKu is creating.
With ‘Marcher sur la tête’, an album of unprecedented density, KiKu is succeeding in bringing together a musically adventurous spirit with the spoken word.

Nadja Stoller - A Heart

The new Album “Earthbound” from Nadja Stoller is a journey through the night. It takes you over open fields and through dense undergrowth to an inescapable and inevitable place of introspection.
That which is grounded takes off into dizzying heights, what is light weighs heavily, whilst delicacy is paired with a distorted roughness. It is grand and beautiful, disconcerting and painful, leaving you with the feeling that things will never be the same again.

The solo artist Nadja Stoller seeks out discomfort, difficulty and challenge. After her Parisian hedonistic phase which resulted in the album ‘Alchemy’ (2011) the singer and multi-instrumentalist withdrew in the winter of 2012 to an isolated place far from human civilization, the kind of place that could be located equally in the volcanic deserts of Iceland, the wide open prairies of Alabama, or in an abandoned backwater in the French Alps. During her hermit-like seclusion she encountered all kinds of creatures. But above all she faced own depths and heights, and ultimately, the eternal question of human existence.

Nadja Stoller let the words she acquired there mature over two years, gradually assembling them together with fragments of banjo, piano, keytar and autoharp, before finally recording her songs in collaboration with Samuel Baur in his studio in Bern.

What has emerged is a creation of ten very different sounding fragile songs which draw an arc from the bittersweet “A Heart” over the unfathomable “Vertigo” to the flirty “Strawberry Passion”.

These unconventional odes are enhanced in concert by Nadja Stoller’s at once elfin, then Amazonian presence. She layers sounds piece by piece on the looper in front of the audience, only in the next minute to bring everything crashing together. It is magical and surreal, yet at the same time down to earth and natural. You are left with the sense that, not far from Stoller’s isolated cabin you could meet a Björk, an Emmylou Harris or a Camille.

STALKER - Stalker

Antonio Albanello is the musical mastermind behind the cryptically named project, ΘYMOZ. Over the last thirty years, his works have been unveiled to the public in waves of creativity, ever oscillating between pop and experimental. Since the 1980s, Albanello has initiated and produced numerous pop and rock projects (The Men, Albanello). He was a member of the mythical group Dnjepr and has developed concepts for sound installations and theatre music. At the present time, he regularly performs in a live electronic setting under the name ozmoZ. Exploring and experimenting with different electronic realms, over the years he has increasingly created songs that seek to unite electronic and organic soundscapes.

In his project ΘYMOZ, Albanello brings together his long-time musical companion Marco Maria, drummer Manuel Pasquinelli, pianist Maja Nydegger and sound engineer Chris Diggelmann to form a unique collaboration of artists.
The development of Breed was a gradual process involving multiple phases. Its evolution began in Albanello’s recording studio, but then disruptive construction noise sent the project on a one-and-a-half-year odyssey. Working in a mobile recording studio, the ideas were matured and crafted together in the area surrounding Bern, by the North Sea and in Berlin. Each stage of the journey gave rise to new material and increasingly refined soundshaping. Many traditional elements were cast overboard; conventional song structures became visibly corroded.  During the recording sessions in the Church of the Holy Spirit (Heiliggeistkirche) in Bern, the elements of Breed were blended together to create a cohesive whole, skilfully weaving the majesty of the baroque organ, grand piano, percussion and vast space into the fabric of the electronic stories. It is this bold experimental approach which gives the album its distinct atmosphere. The ten stories it recounts are told through very few words. On this intimate sounding album, the voice is held back and the lyrics are kept relatively short, often taking the form of lyrical and metaphorical interjections. They convey up a sense of transience, conjuring up feelings of loss, sleepless states and cracks. Breed does not strive for perfection. The elaborate soundscapes, subtle polyrhythms and organic craftsmanship intentionally reveal fault lines. A certain impudence emerges in the use of the stylistic devices. At the same time, the power of inherent beauty pointedly breaks through the melancholic veil in the form of melodies, rhythms and different musical planes.

Musician, composer and one of the most revered figures for today’s younger generation of experimental and alternative Arabic music-scenes, Kamilya Jubran (text, oud & vocals, collaborates with long standing musical partner, composer, accomplished trumpet player and seasoned electronic musician Werner Hasler (trumpet & electronics).

In Wa (Arabic for and), their third album together as a duo, Kamilya Jubran and Werner Hasler continue to interrogate their listening and their expression, their research and their desires, to unravel a musical universe of possibilities; “a unison of timbres, cultures complementing, the complicity of verses, and modes and languages confronting each other ” in the duo’s own way of communicating respective origins and contemporaneity.

Lyrical, within a sound full of contrast and ornamentation, they pursue an expansion of their repertoire with imaginative interpretation and improvisation. For this release via Swiss label Everest Records, Jubran and Hasler seek new sonic and phonetic territory, based on the wasla compound form found in the classical repertoire of Near Eastern music and in Western modern and improvised music; a suite of musical explorations within one composition. In the 45-minutes-long piece that makes up the full length album, they gradually unveil to us the tenants of this artistic dialogue, as they deepen a longstanding musical pact nurtured since 2002 based on the probing and opening up of musical modes and traditions. The chemistry between Jubran and Hasler’s exchange gives birth to a singular, original and extratemporal sound.

Kamilya Jubran (singer, oud) and Werner Hasler (trumpet, electronics) have been collaborating since 2002. Their first collaboration Mahattaat was their earliest experiment into bringing together disparate cultural and artistic roots. Their next collaboration, Wameedd, released in 2004, combined Jubran’s vocal skill and limitless imagination with Hasler’s melodies and his original aesthetics in electronic music. The duo then released Wanabni in 2010 followed by W asl in 2016, featuring French double bass player Sarah Murcia.
