This is the title track from my 1995 CD project of the same name (CD cover art displayed at top) . I recorded this song toward the end of an eleven year adventure living and working in Midtown Manhattan, NYC. I had been visiting Tallahassee every few months by then and was seriously thinking about moving there. The CD cover picture was taken in Central Park East where I would frequently take my guitar, a mic, and a portable amp and play for people walking by. New Yorkers are actually very kind to street performers and I always would get people stopping to listen and some would even try to put money into my guitar case. I only got hassled once by the NYC Police when I played for about four hours down in the subway where the natural reverb was totally awesome and the people waiting for the train are bored and welcome any distraction. Apparently, you need a permit to play in the subway. Also, I got the thrill of my life when James Taylor himself walked by smiling while I was singing "Shower The People"... only in NYC!
