Having been involved with Regal's Irish debut back in 2016, five years later we see the producer thriving in the dance scene, with countless releases, his own label, remixes, club shows and festival appearances, to now releasing his debut album.

Regal’s genre-bending sound has been capturing the hearts and minds of ravers and industry heads since 2012. His staunch productions have garnered support from techno’s well-established vanguard, including noted collaborations, projects and remixes with Amelie Lens, Hadone, Nina Kraviz, Ellen Allien, Emmanuel Top and Len Faki. Regal’s sound graces clubland with full-throttle impact – whether at the legendary Berghain, Awakenings, Possession or his residency at Khidi in Tibilisi. Alongside his own productions, Regal’s imprint Involve has become established for delivering sharpened 303 infused acid sounds. The imprint has welcomed artists including Boston 168, FJAAK and Alignment and is now also the home for his debut album this June.

“The concept has changed a few times over the past few years” says Regal. The focus was to make an album that tells the story of his personal struggles and self-discovery, a dark insight into the DJ’s life, influenced mainly by Dante Alighieri’s ‘Divine Comedy’, where Dante has to cross all the layers of hell and purgatory to arrive in paradise.

Today Maribou State announce 'Nervous Tics (DJ Tennis Remix)’ - the latest in a series of remixes to come from their new album “Kingdoms In Colour”, released on 7th September on Counter Records. Following a recent remix from Maceo Plex, and ahead of a forthcoming remix from Adesse Versions, DJ Tennis (founder of the Life and Death record label) takes on album highlight ‘Nervous Tics’ featuring Holly Walker on vocals with his classic touch, preserving the warmth and fragility of the original but rebuilds the track on a sleek, muscular 4/4 foundation.

As well as their upcoming Roundhouse live-show the newly formed five piece have now sold out all of their upcoming dates in 2018, and recently announced a headline show at London’s Brixton Academy on 7th March 2019 which sold over 60% of tickets in one week, as well as their first live tour of the US and further EU tour dates in 2019.

"Kingdoms In Colour” is Maribou State’s first full-length since 2015’s breakthrough debut album “Portraits”. The record entered the UK album charts at #25 and features singles ‘Feel Good’ - a collaboration born of their friendship with Houston-based trio Khruangbin; ‘Turnmills’ - aimed at raising awareness for the The Night Time Industries Association's #SaveNightlife campaign to protect the UK’s most vulnerable music venues from closure; and continues their long standing relationship with Holly Walker (vocalist on fan favourites ‘Steal’ and ‘Midas’) on ’Nervous Tics’ which is currently on the 6 Music A list.

Beginning life in 2011 as a project between Chris Davids and Liam Ivory, Maribou State had released a string of EP’s and singles before the arrival of debut album “Portraits” propelled them to the world stage. Spawning a live show that took them around the globe and included standout festival performances at Glastonbury, Bestival, a headline slot at Sonar by Day and Secret Garden Party; a 32-date European tour plus dates throughout Asia, Australia and America. They received radio support from the likes of Annie Mac, Zane Lowe and Gilles Peterson, multiple additions to the BBC 6 Music A-list, a 5-show BBC Radio 1 Residency, a slot on the legendary BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and performed a session Live from Maida Vale. Critical support came from the likes of The Guardian, i-D magazine and Vogue, with the album amassing over 80 million streams to date and drawing comparisons to acts such as The xx, James Blake & Mount Kimbie, as well earning them plaudits from the likes of DJ Koze and Bonobo.

Exos joins forces with Gotshell a.k.a Alessan Main, the great ambassador of the Colombia electronic music scene for the fifth release on X/OZ. The pair met in Colombia made the decision to make music together. Over the next weeks they travelled together in Colombia getting inspiration from the Colombian spirits. The pair also teamed up with Maayan Nidam for a true jungle remix to go along with four original tracks with sounds that originate and fluctuate with the deep spiritual entities of Colombia.

Exactly one year after his debut ‘The Eyes’ for BPitch Berlin, ‘Ego Wars’ is the follow-up EP of the exceptional Spanish artist Regal. With the three tracks (as well as a remix by the Frenchman Hadone) Gabriel Cassina shows again why he is one of the most prominent techno acts of our time. After releasing acid-infused rave tracks like ‘Overground’, which last year became an outstanding signature track not only in Ellen Allien’s DJ sets, he now combines radically fast beats with trance-influenced melodies on the ‘Ego Wars’ EP. The tracks convey the same passion that you could hear on his previous releases on his own label Involve, but they are also partially entering a new stylistic territory, triggered by his move from Madrid to Barcelona last year.

According to Cassina, the name of the EP and the title track ‘Ego Wars’ is not only closely linked to strong feelings of frustration, redemption and love, he clearly also knows how to express these intensities musically. ‘Ego Wars’ is a high-performance rave track with an uncompromisingly twisting, distorted bassline and a theme that sounds like an echo from a Detroit techno-dystopia. Cassina shows a seriousness and strength here that has never been heard of him in this way before. A2 number ‘Anhedonia’ begins with Regal’s typically hard-hitting groove until a super euphoric trance melody floods the brain with serotonin - a musical dichotomy that Cassina repeatedly transforms into pure rave ecstasy here.


‘Fuck Making Love’ on the B-side then absorbs the energy of ‘Anhedonia’ and transfers it into something a little brighter - until an almost oriental-sounding melody pushes the track in a completely unexpected direction - a real exceptional track in Regal’s extensive discography! The French DJ and producer Hadone, who recently released an EP on Shlømo’s label Taapion, finally turns ‘Fuck Making Love’ into a summerly raving uptempo neo trance hymn, rounding off this EP in the best possible way.
