The Last Morning

I've decided that a simple way to combine my tarot readings with my creativity would be to start doing a single card reading, and putting a set together around it. So lets go on a journey. 

 XIII - Death:

A sharp intake of breath drawing this card. Way to start with a bang! I suppose it's an instinctual reaction, given the permanent role Death plays in our physical existence. Still, its easy to shift thoughts from behind the veil, to what this card really portent and that intransigent nature of Life: change. It reminds me to let go of that which is not serving me, and embrace the fluidity of life. Everything in life has a beginning and an end, but each end and beginning always brings with it the opportunity for us to grow and learn, to embrace Life and Death, and honor change as it comes. 

Hopefully the set reflects that initial hesitation to let go, but then switches to up lift in the ways that change is so often necessary in our lives if we only embrace it.

I. Tarot Set: XIII Death

This is a card that brings me joy. Feels tied to the very foundation of my physical existence: my birth month in the number VIII, and so naturally, my Leo Sun represented in the Lion. The calm, content, way the woman radiates feminine energy to tame the seething passion/ferocity of the Lion. The use of love and empathy to focus and regulate. The way of Grace over  Nature; through it we manifest our reality from the metaphysical infinite (with shades of the Magician).  

Embracing positive faith in the universe to help overcome the multitude of setbacks and hardships that are the nature of living. For me, connecting to the universe through love and empathy is what keeps me going. Too many times, I've felt like the hill is just to steep to climb, or the choices I've made have led me into a Lion's den that I can't bring myself to face. Yet I've persevered and in those moment it's been love that has given me the strength to continue. 

I've been mentally and physically exhausted lately, and this card reminds me that reconnecting to the Universe is the way to regain my strength and stay on my path.

II. Tarot Set: VIII Strength

Two impoverished figures struggle through the cold and dark. Falling snow only focuses their outward projection of inward plight. If only they could look up, to the light of warmth shining out above their heads. 
The Universe sees me, and the proof is in how much this card is calling me out. Going through the pain of loss has left me in a hole; forcing me to take a hard look at my life. How did I end up here? "I play back all my mistakes in real time." Mistakes that have hurt me, and hurt people I love. They are as heavy as I choose to make them. "Somethings I have to do, but I don't mean you harm." Heavy to the point that the mountain seems to steep to climb, exhausted physically and spiritually.
It's easy for us to get lost in the trials of life. The consequences of our actions/reactions, and allowing life to consume us is the essence of this card. What's also laid out is the power of manifestation. Seeing life through a lens of darkness only makes the cold bite of night that much worse. This set reflects that, but the light is also there. A change of perspective is all that's needed to see it, embrace it, and manifest the change to get back to the light.

IV. Tarot Set: Five Of Pentacles

The wheel spins round in time, and this to shall pass. 
The trials, the joy, the beauty, the heartbreak, the love: all cycle. All loop. Throughout time. 
This card reminds us to appreciate/accept the cyclical nature of the universe. The gift of life is it's ephemerality, which grants each us the opportunity of growth and change. We have the the choice to embrace this gift with love and understanding, and appreciate the singular moment. 
It also serves to reminds us of our karma, and tells us to use our time to put love, empathy, and goodness into the universe to ensure positive outcomes for others and ourselves each time the wheel turns.

IX. Tarot Set: XII The World

The tenth and final card: the Ten of Swords. Irony in numeric form, but the message is clear. Each sword driven through the back. The darkness lies heavy on this card. The weight of personal betrayal, abandonment, loss all hang like black night. A dark turn of fortune, and the yearning to give up. Through the pain, the head is turned to the golden light of dawn. Hope is the message; the sun also rises. For every turn of the wheel downwards there is a matching upward turn. Things may change, foundations may be shattered, but light will see you through it, and the life you rebuild from sudden collapse will be all the stronger for it.
