In the times where the rumour of war is an short-term-memory anecdote for those who have lived through and still live in the war itself. this unceasing light from the barrel of the firing stick/ the TV screen/ the camera flash/ the light bulb/ the pylon/ the stars/ have you seen a star disappear?

                         it's because they become sick and die. "

Dumazile (Zimbabwe, 1990) is a song written by Nongoma's parents Themba and Bajabulile Ndlovu founders of the band Children of Nandi. Dumazile speaks about the stigma surrounding HIV and how it affects the sufferer and those around them. It also serves as a metaphor for  the 'chosen' child that goes through a traumatic series of events before submitting to the calling and how that process affects both them and those around them.

This version of Dumazile is a Live Recording of the performance of the song at ALT BLK CONTINUA series (curated by Msaki) held at The Velvet Lounge in East London in late 2018.

Independent Artists Nongoma from Kajama and Itai Hakim while on a silent tour down the famous Garden Route in South Africa [October to December 2018] started a collaboration on a project space called [Everything Else]

As the name suggest both artists are on a journey to explore different ways in which independent artists can approach collaboration, the occupation of spaces, the narration of the the 'quiet ones' and more broadly etch out space beyond the conventional forms of housing musical directions and musical performance to limited genre types and commercial tropes - opting for constant experimentation during the reflection of being in transit - to nowhere in particular but arriving nonetheless. The departure is always from within only to arrive within again.
