Another dreamy acoustic loop. I find myself sitting on the porch letting my mind wander about, and when I wander - and daydream of places I'll never go, my fingers kind of repeatedly find their way around the fret board and sometimes the little things they come up with stick. The little melodies and grooves become little sound track titles to moments I like to hold on to.

Will It Be

I originally composed the idea for this in 2006. I often play it by myself when it's raining, or when I've had to much to drink - this particular recording came from the iOS app FourTrack, back in 2009, when I was relaxing on the porch during a Virginia spring rain, and is one of my favorites.

The End of a Good Thing

This piece was inspired by one of the melodies of Chim Chim Cher-ee, from the film Marry Poppins. 

The performance in the film had an overly positive outward cadence to me, even though the music itself sounded incredibly sad. It came off as the song of a man who was more trying to convince himself it was a good life - more so than the people he was, in fact, singing to.

I am sure the job was a thankless one, under horrible conditions. I wonder, years later, if he would he be singing the same tune now...

Sugar Dreams

I love the footwork style, groove, and beat. There is a tension to it, a compelling conjuring to move - more so than other dance beats, at least for me. I had been playing with the Auxy iOS app, and dropped the midi into ableton, and this is what I came up with.

This piece was a never ending loop following me around in my daydreams. For months I felt like I was in somewhere between various states of consciousness, and this was the sound track looping in the background.

One of my oldest recordings, inspired by Photek's remix of Everything But The Girl - "Single"

The quality is pretty rough, recorded through the built-in mic on a busted G3 macbook pro and long before I grasped the concept of recording with a metronome so some people bring up the sloppy strumming but I don't think I would change any of it. I love this little piece just the way it is.
