Almost four years ago, I was asked to make a remix of this by a friend who I'm about 90% confident was joking. I rediscovered their suggestion in late 2020 and decided to actually do it. I'm not particularly attached to the Sonic universe--I loved Sonic X as a kid but I'm not even sure if I've beaten a single game in the franchise. But I still admire some of the characters, and happy hardcore is one of my favorite genres so I actually liked the style of the original track already. My goal was to modernize it while still paying tribute to that 1990s era of happy hardcore it embodies. With the original already being in that genre, calling my bootleg a "happy hardcore remix" is a little redundant, but regardless I haven't made it in a long time, so revisiting it for this project was super fun!

After isolating the vocals from the original I knew I didn't just want to place them in the track plain, so I decided to use a vocoder to give them a weird spin. They're less intelligible, but I liked the sound so I decided to take that sacrifice. Plus, it's not like the lyrics were grammy-worthy writing anyway. I figured it could still be amended with on-screen lyrics in the YouTube video. Thanks for listening! The original song is admittedly ridiculously silly, and the idea of me remixing it has been a joke for a while, so I thought it would be fitting to upload for April Fool's Day. Yup, it's a Nurture bootleg. This is my favorite album of the year so far, going to wait a few months before deciding if it's in my top ten of all time. In other news, grass is green.

Obviously I liked this song quite a bit, and on my third or fourth listen of the album I realized the potential for a DnB remix. I had a FLAC from buying the vinyl, so I dropped that in my DAW and started playing with it. And uh, this happened.

Out of all the remixes and bootlegs I've made over the years, I think this one is more reliant on the original's sound than any of them. I mean, the drop is 80% the original with post-processing and glitch effects. It's a *really* simple project. But I wouldn't have released it if I didn't like how it turned out, and I do think it's still pretty transformative. Fun fact: The nature sounds in this are from the same recording session I did a year ago for Spread Your Wings!

I was thinking about participating in Novatone's Audioclash, the theme being remixes of classic electronic tracks. Then @Pulvite (who already claimed Scatman) invited me to collaborate with them, so I immediately jumped onto that opportunity. After playing tennis with stems for a month, this is what happened. 

The original song is a wonderful classic, so I hope we did it justice. Also, this is my second 90s bootleg!

Hey guys! So, in case you didn't know, I've been working on the OST for the Terraria Mod, "Mharadium & Negativity." Today is one of the spriters of the mod's birthday, so I got permission from miniek (the person who I send my songs in to) to spoil a track to wish him a Happy Birthday! He hasn't actually heard the song yet, so it's a complete surprise!

Anyways, this song is for the boss he designed: The Darkstar Swarm. I'd just like to mention a couple things I'm aware of and that I know others will mention:

First off, I know, this doesn't fit the style of Terraria that well, and it fits more in the style of maybe the Terraia Otherworld Soundtrack or the Starbound Soundtrack. I'm not very good at making songs fit the style of Terraria, so again, sorry!

Second off, the track wasn't initially supposed to be a boss theme. I just wrote a looping track that could work for a bossfight and also a sad moment (like a sort of "I'm gonna kill you, but I kinda don't want to" thing) for fun, and I really hated to see it go to waste. So I asked miniek if it would work with The Darkstar Swarm, and he said "Yeah, sure." So, that explains the mood of the song. :P

Woo! Just in time before Christmas Eve! This is my new track, Dreamscape! I've been working on it for a while now and I think it sounds really good, and it might even be my best song yet.

I also got it mastered by Robert VanZandt (you can find his YT channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheCrossChild), so it sounds even better! At least, it sounds really good through a pair of studio speakers (I haven't listened to the song through my headphones, so PLEASE let me know if there's something odd with the master).

Me and Robert are collaborating on an album that's actually gonna be called "Dreamscape", and this is gonna be the first song in it, so consider it a taste of what's to come!

Happy New Year! Here's a little New Years present to all of you. Stay awesome! <3

So, I've been playing a lot of Kirby lately (Kirby's Return to Dreamland ftw), and I kinda wanted to make a track themed around the Kirby Series. I thought the idea of riding on a miniature star that goes faster than the speed of light was really freaking awesome, so I named it Warp Star! Plus, I've been listening to F-777's "Ludicrous Speed" album lately, so I wanted to make something fast-paced anyways. So, this was born!

I tried my best to simulate the lead saw in my favorite song from the album (Ultimate). It doesn't sound exactly like it, but I think it sounds at least close! I used the same piano trick from my Piano Test song I uploaded earlier, too. I decided to make this track shorter than usual. Mostly to stop the extreme repetitiveness, and also because I want to practice my Space Cadet V2 challenge. I also had the trial version of FL Studio installed, so I decided to try and make some drums for the track using it! I know, I sound noobish with the default drumset, but it's a really good set and I wanted to at least do SOMETHING with FL before I uninstalled it. :l

So, uh, that's all I have to say about this one. Enjoy!

Hey guys, it's my 1 Year Anniversary on Newgrounds! :D I've come so incredibly far, and it's just amazing. I couldn't have done it without all of my you guys. I really hope you enjoy this one. This is possibly one of my best songs yet in my opinion. It's been mastered wonderfully by my Dad, Robert VanZandt, who took the time to master my song to make sure it was PERFECT and didn't have any clipping or anything. We ran it through several programs to get rid of the distortion in the piano until we finally got rid of it. That was probably the hardest part of mastering. :P But I think it all paid off. :) Anyways, I hope you enjoy. The original song was, surprisingly, made in about seven to eight hours (not counting the mastering), while my first song took me two weeks (that one didn't even have any mastering), and this is probably the first song where I can say I felt that everything was right with it when I took a listen to it the next day, and it was ready for mastering. Well, enough rambling. I'm just really proud of this song for some reason. Anyways, enjoy!

Finally back with my first Year 2 track!

Okay, so this one's a bit strange. It was written for Mharadium and Negativity's OST, which is a bit strange in itself. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to spoil what this is for or not, so I won't! I'll just say the cover art has something to do with it. ;) I wanted to do a really strange track anyway. It has these offtune notes, weird drums and instruments, and a kind of awkward ending (sorry about that. It was meant to loop ingame). Despite all that, this is one of my favorite tracks that I've made.

Rainbow Resort is something I've wanted to make for a long time. I had the main idea of it a while back, actually. After lots of procrastination, I finally started working on it and finished it just in time for Pixel Day. The tune was very much inspired by the Kirby series (if you couldn't tell by the name), like lots of my other songs were. If you didn't already know, Kirby is probably my favorite video game series.

Kirby's Adventure was the primary game that inspired this tune. That game holds a lot of memories for me (mostly the satisfaction of beating the final boss), but Rainbow Resort was my favorite world. There was something about all the pretty colors and the fact that it was the final world that kind of made it my favorite.

I'm going to stop obsessing over Kirby and instead talk about the track now.

It was pretty painful to make, actually. For the majority of the time, I had creator's block. That was fun. I was also rushed. That was also fun. And software failed on me a lot while writing this. That too was very fun.

Despite all that though I did enjoy working on it overall, and despite the fact that it was semi-rushed I still think it's probably one of my favorite songs I've made.

I have some more cool things coming (including more chiptune/chipstep), so stay tuned and stuff.

So, in case you didn't know, this year's the 25th anniversary of my favorite video game series, video game character, one on my biggest inspirations, and my favorite puffball. Kirby!

I really wanted to do something special on the day of his anniversary, but it didn't work out. However, I did make this! Yogurt Yard's theme was always one of my favorites when I played Kirby's Adventure. It's just so darn catchy and happy. When I rediscovered it thanks to a certain channel with extremely high-quality rips, I knew I had to remix it. So I started working on it, and I spent about 24 hours on it (plus a few extra, more worrying hours because I thought the project file was corrupted) before finishing it and calling it a day (literally).

I personally really enjoy it, and I'm glad I got to release something summer-y this summer.

Also, in other, non-relevant news, I picked up my first bass guitar yesterday. Hooray for me!

Just a tiny remix I made for fun, while I was sick.

I always thought of Grape Garden as a more slow and sweet-sounding tune, like Kirby's Return to Dreamland's version. I also thought it'd make for a nice remix, so I made this.

Grape Garden's tune always reminded me of "Silver and Gold," from Rudolph.  It has a similar sounding melody. Actually, I'm not sure why I mentioned it because it's not relevant to the remix at all. It's just been in my head for so long that I felt like getting it out. It drove me insane whenever I heard either of these songs because I keep thinking things, like "Hey, that's Silver and Gold!" or "Hey, that's Grape Garden!" So, yeah, that also drove me to write this remix. Now I wonder if I should classify it as a remix of Silver and Gold, too. Hmm.

Kirby's Adventure - Grape Garden (Evilgrapez Remix)

I find it slightly unlucky that when I finally started releasing music again, my Twitter was locked (and it still is, unfortunately). Nonetheless, this originally started when I asked Pulvite for the stems so I could remix the track, and eventually this was made (I think some other people were doing remixes too at one point, but I'm not sure if they're still working on them or they're all dead projects).

I've been looking forward to releasing this one for a while (this was originally the "early June release" I talked about, but it got pushed back). I played with several different sounds and ideas here, and did a lot of different things that was my first time doing in a project (for instance, playing my bass).

Anyway, hope you enjoy it. I'm probably going to be releasing more remakes and remixes, as my originals are focused on my album (which has been changed from a summer release to a "when it's done" release).

Super Mario Odyssey would probably the best Mario game ever if the Galaxy games didn't exist. But instead of obsessing over how good it is, I'll talk about the remix instead. I've wanted to do something from the game for a while. I had three ideas: Jump Up Super Star, Fossil Falls, and New Donk City. I decided Jump Up Super Star was overdone and Fossil Falls was already so good that I'd never do it justice. So I went with New Donk City, because it was still really good and not done as much.

I had a lot of fun with this song and it may not be the only SMO song I do. Hope you likey.

Hey everyone, it's the four year anniversary since I released my first song and began creating music! It's been a very long time since I released something 100% new, not a remake or remix. I know I sound like a broken record, but again, my efforts on new material have been put towards my album in order to get it finished more quickly. Nonetheless, I present to you one of my most unique projects to date: Discovery.

Well actually, this is technically a remake. "Discovery" has been in the works for two years. A very, very early version was released a long time ago as a Spotify exclusive, under the name "Bitcity." It was more like a filler upload to pass the time before I had something else, and it was eventually taken down. It was released, but only shortly and on a few stores. A year later, I revisited the project and worked it into something new, which resulted in 90% of what you're hearing. Back then I wanted to save it for the album, so I left the project to sit when I had mostly completed it. As time went on, my album and its style changed, and the track (along with a few others that are unreleased) no longer fit, so I abandoned it. Three days ago, I rediscovered the project file, and decided that it was worth reviving. After several hours and long nights, I finally finished what I started two years ago.

There are actually five songs that have fallen to the same predicament, and I have yet to decide what to do with them. Unlike those, this one actually still held up a little.

It's not perfect, and I do wish I had more time to get it to that state, but even if I did I'd probably just tinker with it endlessly like I do everything else I don't have a deadline for. Nonetheless, I'm happy to finally release it for everyone to hear. I don't actually know what genre it is, is has future bass influences but also some dubstep ones. It's probably a song Monstercat would label as "Electronic."

I guess one thing hasn't changed throughout these four years, I still type up an entire essay about each song! I hope you enjoy it, I'm happy with how it turned out.

Fun fact: I painted that artwork three months ago, it's the second painting I've ever painted (aside from my logo, which was edited on there). I still have yet to hang it.

Behold, the epic story of how I milked a seven second loop dry to make a remix.

95% of this was written in 2019 while I was hard at work on Discovery. I started it because I wanted to take a break from working on the album. To be honest, there's no reason I didn't release it back then. But I'm also kind of glad I didn't, because rediscovering it in my project files was one heck of a surprise. I spent a few days polishing it up, got it licensed, and here we are. Due to this essentially being a remastered 2019 song, it isn't nearly as impressive or complex as my other post-Discovery material, but I'm happy to have it out!

I love the Wii a lot, and I love its music. Everyone knows about the Wii Shop Channel's theme, and it's a popular choice for remixing and mashing up. Hardly anyone brings up the channel's banner music though, and I've never seen it remixed. That was enough motivation for me to get to work. I soon learned why nobody remixed it: Making a full-length piece out of a seven second loop without having it be super repetitive isn't easy.

Regardless of the challenge, I had fun originally making this and remastering it, so I hope you like it!

I got sick during the last stretch of production on this, so it's less finished and mixed that I want it to be. Nonetheless, here's a VIP of Bonfire! I didn't take the production as seriously as I did on the original (which took almost three years, this was done in a couple months). I was very happy with the original song as it was, and the other remixers were already going to keep the upbeat vibe up, so I thought I'd be weird with mine and instead of trying to write a masterpiece, making something fun instead. Therefore the goal of this track was to answer the questions nobody ever asked or wanted to know the answers to: "What if Bonfire had darker harmonies, was five times as heavy as the original, and also had multiple hard dance sections?"

This is also the first track I've produced in Mixcraft 9, which I finally upgraded to from Mixcraft 8. Automation curves are very nice. Hope you like it--and if you don't there's always the original track and the other remixes.

As of today, I've been putting music online for six years.

"Rainbow Curse" is one of my oldest tracks (it's nearly five years old), and I've been wanting to remake it for a while. I already made a VIP a long time ago, but there weren't any rules saying I couldn't do that again! It also seemed especially fitting in celebration of my musical anniversary to recreate one of the first songs I wrote that actually had an original melody.

Because of the deadline I kind of speedran this and put it all together more quickly than I usually make a track, meaning a month or so of work.

That doesn't seem very fast, but considering everything else going on in my life at the moment and the technical problems I have to deal with, it's fast for me for a track like this. There were days when I could make more creative music way faster (for instance my VIP of Azure, which was made in a few days), but that's hard for me to do right now for a lot of reasons.

Of course, doing it quickly came with some unfortunate sacrifices. Both drum loops in both drops are full Cymatics drum loops without a lot added to them. I almost always use sample packs for drums anyway but I usually like to put together my own arrangement, combinations of samples, and post-process them a lot. The loop was just supposed to be a placeholder, but as time got tighter they had to serve as the final drums.

I had to rely on a few more presets than I would have liked and the arrangement isn't that creative. It's a lot more similar to the original song than I intended. But I'm happy with it anyway, and I think the quality's still a huge improvement over the original. I don't think it would have won the Art-Inspired Music contest still, but it's not for a contest this time so that doesn't really matter.
