100% Production Jungle Mix

Here's a recording of my set from APOG music festival 2025 at the Hive Stage, 11:15pm-12:15am on Friday, July 4th - yes, there were fireworks for my set 😊. This was my first proper festival set after many years behind the decks, and I put a lot of time into choosing music that would sound great on a huge system. I tried to bring tracks with intricate rhythms, heavy bass, and bouncy fun. I've always been a big fan of sound system music but never had an opportunity quite like this to play stuff that I love in the context it was made for.

It happened to be my birthday at midnight, so it ended with a crowd sing-along of happy birthday which was really touching.

I have so much gratitude for the huge number of friends who came out in support and danced with me, it's impossible to recreate that experience but I hope you enjoy listening to it again anyway. If you can, throw it on in the car or on a stereo with a subwoofer - this music isn't really meant to be listened to on small speakers.

I also have to thank everyone from the APOG team who put faith in me to rock such a choice set time for my first time out, and the team at The Hive who absolutely blew me away with their professionalism, sound engineering, and visual design. What a stage!

Episode #28 is dedicated to Dominick Martin aka Calibre's very own Signature recordings. The label was established in 2003 and in it's catalogue you can see over 30 singles, a few 2x12" EPs and 20 LPs by the man himself. Other than that the music man has over a 100 other releases on some of the most respected labels in the game as well as 5 other albums - the debut LP "Musique Concrete" that came out in 2001 on Fabio's Creative Source, the "Grow" and "Double Bend" LPs on Craig Richards' "The Nothing Special", the "4AM" LP on Doc Scott's 31 Records and also "The Eleventh Hour" LP as MISTiCAL alongside Marcus Intalex & ST. Files, which came out on Soul:r.

Calibre is one of the most prolific and respected artist in the genre and also one of my all time favourites. In November 2009 I went hitchhiking ~430 km to see him play. I'm still looking fwd to our second meeting when hopefully he'll sign some of his records that I bought over the years. ❤ Happy to say that I have 91 of his releases in my collection (34 of which are on Signature), so for this mix I picked some of my favourite tracks that I have from the label while trying to represent all the different styles of music that Dom has been creating. Everything from the deep garage bits, the Dominick Martin material, the soulful and jazzy liquid, through the funky and dubby steppers, all the way to the dark rollers. Calibre live @ Liquicity Festival 2025

This is the last one I'm going to do in this series. It's been fun. 10+ years ago when i started TFIJ 1 with Om Unit - Adventures In Eden it felt like jungle really was the future. There were loads of new ideas being painted with the jungle pallette and it sounded very fresh and exciting. Jungle now just sounds like jungle. Which is fine, and i still love it, but it doesn't feel very forward looking anymore.

So that's why this is the last one.
