Being October, I'm incredibly late for this July collaboration prompt by @user295849933, but the melody of this piece has captured me. It's so haunting and beautiful, in fact, that I did... nothing, musically speaking.

Well, except the short intro, but that's minimal.

Initially I wanted to play the bass over it, but then I got the idea of turning it into voice. So I converted the piano piece to MIDI using an online tool, which did a half-decent job. I then loaded the MIDI part in Synthesizer V Studio (a kick-ass vocal synth by Dreamtonics), cleaned it up to be strictly monophonic, made subtle changes, added a bit of drama, and let the synthetic voice of Eleanor Forte sing it.

Then I added the same MIDI in Ardour, this time keeping all the polyphonic conversion artefacts, and had it played by Boing2 (an even more kick-ass bowed string virtual instrument by Xoxos).

The piano part is the original playing by Douglas. All I did was layering them together.

The result, in my opinion, is deliciously surreal. It has a nice pathos to it, and it's hilarious in some passages. All in all, I find it extremely pleasant :-)

Martin Hirsch is a collaborator friend of mine on SC he asked if I could compose a song for a family member who has been diagnosed with a terrible disease.
She is only sixteen and has been given a 50/50 chance.
I was taken by his grief for this young girl and I was honored that he asked me to compose a song for her.
My thought's prayers and well wishes are with his family and Christine.
