Deeper Than The Sea, produced by Red Broad, features guest vocals and collaborations from Bajka (Bonobo, Beanfield, Sola Rosa), Soul Sista Shakti (Monodeluxe, Aandra, Audio Jazz) and Margo Rey who also featured on the first release. DEEPER THAN THE SEA follows on from where HAPPY HOUR IN THE GENE POOL left off, continuing the rich pallet of downtempo beats, chilled out grooves and sultry vocals. The album contains twelve original tracks, four vocal and eight instrumental. The overall vibe is a luxurious mix of chilled out downtempo ranging from light vocal to deeper dubs, glitch and experimental electronica musings. The past few days, Puerto Rico has been in my mind so much... I'm not sure why it's so strong, but I've been visiting in my dreams both asleep & awake. Maybe I'm due for another trip to El Yunque?  This morning in the studio, I found a CD I haven't seen/ heard in years. It was by my friend Ausubo (Christian) & it spoke of cosmic energies in & around us. Having wowed tastemakers across the board with her debut album, “Barefoot In Your Kitchen”, in 2012 (Gilles Peterson made it his Album of the Week a year ago) saucy songstress and culinary linguist Bev Lee Harling returns with a one-off single covering one of her favourite songs of all time.

The Peggy Lee classic, “Why Don’t You Do Right?”, was recorded by many artists in the 1950’s and 60’s, including Della Reese, whose version provided the inspiration for this take, but seemed to have become a bit of a forgotten gem for contemporary recording artists, until now that is.

This limited edition 7-inch release features a pair of cracking mixes from two of Europe’s finest production outfits with an ear for a classic tune and a touch of jazz.

Italy’s Suonho has found fame recently with his tasteful edits, on-point remixes and his recent re-versions of Brazilian classics. Here he takes Bev’s interpretation to the dance floor with a bass heavy four-to-the-floor mix that will please jazz and house heads alike.

On the flip, our very own Colman Brothers are back, adding a little of their trademark ‘Cha Cha’ magic to Bev’s sassy vocals, and creating a mid-tempo shuffler that should please fans of both them and the lady herself!

The original vocal version is also available via an accompanying digital package, and should help stave off the hunger for more Bev Lee Harling material until her new album drops in early 2014.

In 2006 I released "Happy Hour In The Gene Pool" my first downtempo album of original tracks under the name EVOLVE. The CD has been met with much critical acclaim and continues to be a best seller for its genre on both Amazon and iTunes. In November 2013 I released my second album "Deeper Than The Sea". The album features vocals by Bajka (Bonobo), Soul Sista Shakti (Mono Deluxe) and Margo Rey.

As a DJ I've been spinning downtempo chill and deep/tech/tribal house sets live in clubs, lounges and private parties and was resident DJ on the renowned chill-out destination BELOW ZERO, the coolest chill-out and downtempo radio show south of the North Pole!

I produce the chill out podcast SofaSonica which is available on iTunes and PodoMatic. The hour long sets are also posted on Mixcloud and the SofaSonica page on FaceBook.

I'm currently back in the studio getting ideas together for a third album of chilled out downtempo tracks for my Evolve project. Stay tuned!
