The widely beloved super-heroes Moonbootica & Ante Perry joined forces for an enthusiastic and seldom recording gathering. The masterly artists amaze with an extravagant floor-filler. Their “Look Out” composition focuses on building tension, but not at the expense of orientation and dynamics. It immediately sets an energetic vibe that will keep the crowd’s heart rate up. The crisp organ sounds and raw vocal fragments make it stand out in that regard. 

Juliet Fox’s remix takes it’s time and a slightly deeper approach, using only the original’s supporting pillars to form her slow burning interpretation. She replaces the peak-time effect work with a looser and more mystical rhythm. Making her version the perfect soundtrack for the sun-drenched early morning hours.

Denmark’s Kasúal adds futuristic pads and a slamming fresh bassline to his arrangement. It’s the most hypnotic track on this quality-release and features a handful of melodic break-downs that will keep you locked in from start to finish.

Since returning from European live runs with both Peaches and YACHT, Berlin-based darkwave-pop duo Evvol have spent the past few months holed up in their Kreuzberg studio writing the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed debut ‘Eternalism.’ ‘Physical L.U.V’ is the result - a wonderfully atmospheric 5 track EP set for release via !K7 Records in May.

Formed in 2014 from the ashes of previous musical projects and having rekindled their fractured relationship, Evvol - AKA Irish singer Julie Chance and Australian multi-instrumentalist Jane Arnison - embarked on a new and revitalised direction. Blending textured, atmospheric guitars, ominous synths, vicious beats and layered glacier vocals, debut full-length ‘Eternalism’ was the sound of commercial pop fused with arty electronica, dripping with industrial charm and evoking Berlin’s seedy underbelly. It quickly won them a dedicated fan base, selling out debut shows in Berlin and London and winning support from The Guardian, Noisey, NME, The Fader and i-D. Their stage setting is a dense fog of moody lighting, dry ice haze and angular silhouettes; a fittingly mysterious canvas for their rich moodscapes. Under a former moniker they have previously toured the world with Austra, and shared the stage with Grimes, Peaches and TRUST.

‘Physical L.U.V’ is a dense, ethereal and very personal EP, documenting the many physical and emotional comforts and constraints of love. Written, arranged, produced and engineered entirely themselves, it combines hypnotic vocals with electronic beats that ebb and flow with metronomic consistency.

The Beat Within

To the delight of many, longstanding Panorama Bar resident Virginia is prepping her first feature length release on Berghain's own Ostgut Ton. With co-production from an arsenal of renowned artists such as Steffi, Martyn and Dexter, Fierce for the Night is said to address the "classic house music narrative" of "love, longing and lightness." The new project sees Virginia sing over all eleven tracks that incorporate a broad range of melodies, rhythms and sounds. From energetic house to slow paced balled-esque numbers, to more break heavy cuts; all gel as one under the rubric of the love and enjoyment in club culture. by smooth vocals that flow excellently alongside each track.

"Follow Me" captures the smooth vocally aided flow that ties Fierce for the Night together. A jungle-inspired break is paired with crisp kick drums, playful chords and a hefty bassline, while Virginia's soft vocals ride beautifully over the top. A picture is painted of a dancefloor in close conjunction with the DJ, where they dance away until the "break of dawn."
