This is the second single from my forthcoming album which as you can hear is taking on the aesthetic of 90s college radio! BIG guitars, BIG melodies, BIG tunes. 

Lyrically, 'You'll Never Know' is about meeting people who are putting a brave face on their circumstances but under the surface are dealing with a lot of heavy issues. Ultimately it is a song about showing empathy with others as you never know what another person has been through or is going through.

We're surrounded by beauty on a daily basis; whether aesthetically, in art, architecture or nature, or more obscurely through music, ideas and thoughts. It's everywhere and it's there for each of us to find. The song explores this idea and the power that can be found when we embrace the beautiful.

This track is written about the self righteous. The people who believe that because they’ve read a summary of an article on a topic, armed with this new knowledge, instantly they become a world authority on the subject. The type of people who never listen, never learn from mistakes or admit they are wrong.

‘Make Someone’s Day’ in the closing track to my forthcoming album (release 24-11-23). It perfectly sums up the whole record; embracing the importance of the moment and looking for the best in everyone and situations you find yourself in. I hope the message resonates with you. 'Okay / Not Okay' is the most rock inspired track I have released to date - Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, The Vines, Arctic Monkeys (at their heaviest) and the mighty Biff have all been points of reference in its inception. 

Lyrically the song is inspired by my work with young people that are experiencing behavioural challenges. One of the strategies used to support is know as an 'Okay / Not Okay' behaviour plan. This got me thinking more widely about okay and not okay behaviours that we all experience in life and how they can impact on one's self esteem and overall wellbeing. I hope it resonates with many.

The inspiration for this track has come from my work with children and young people that have experienced a bereavement. Losing someone who is so close to you is the hardest thing any of us will experience in our lives. I hope this song captures even an ounce of the rollercoaster of emotions we experience when dealing with some of the toughest times in our lives.

I Don't Know About You

Just finished recording this song I wrote nearly 10 years ago. The events made me realise that for better or for worse, life is in a constant state of flux and that change is inevitable, no matter how fast or slow it happens. Thinking of everyone who has had a difficult 2020 or finds this time of year hard to bear. There is always hope and everything will and everything must change.

Hi, I'm Ewan from Edinburgh, Scotland. I studied contemporary classical composition (BMus Hons) at Napier University, Edinburgh. I followed this by completing a MA in Music Production (composition) at Leeds College of Music. 

I have been in many bands over the years and my songs have received airplay on national BBC Radio 1, as well as various BBC regional stations and on commercial radio. I have gigged extensively across the UK and have played at a number of major UK festivals.

I have recently started to record tracks that I have written over the years that have never quite found their place in any of the bands I've played in. On my profile I have included tracks from the past to give an insight into my musical history. 

I have been the principle songwriter for all the tracks featured. The most recent are not associated to any bands, just me as a songwriter in my own right. I have written, performed, recorded, produced and mastered each of these myself. I would also love to collaborate or record with other musicians, singers or songwriters.
