Written in the throws of uncertain times, oosoom is a break from ewe’s usual collective approach to music. Written, recorded and mixed in their Bermondsey studio, the song reflects on the mundanities, uncertainties and anxieties of lockdown life. Due to the restrictions, frontman and producer Cameron J Niven had to play almost every instrument on the track. Despite this, the track once again features the lustrous layered cello of Maya McCourt (Various Guises, Salt Moon, Ferris & Sylvester).

Musically and lyrically, oosoom seeks to convey the transcendental feelings that occur through being rooted in repetition. It builds on a meditative chordal ostinato (aka a loop) as guitars, riffs, and synthesisers gradually mix into the fold until finally reaching its synth, string and scream-laden climax.

Hailing from South London, ewe draws on the Folk, Blues, Latin & their heritage North African music to form lyrical songs whose rhythmic and hypnotic colours have earned comparisons to Yo La Tengo, Devendra Banhart, Nick Drake and Milton Nascimento. 

After a series of successful shows with the likes of Night Flight and Nicholas Edward Harris in 2020 and, with their sophomore EP on the horizon, like many, ewe had the rug pulled out from beneath them. They will be releasing music from this time of solitude throughout 2021, with their next release, Spring Swing coming out 9th April on Lydian.

Starting as a weekly jam between friends, ewe recorded their first music at North London's now infamous Spiritual Bar, releasing their first single 'The Great Divide' on the haunt's label, Spiritual Records in 2015. 

After releasing their debut EP, Edgar Wallace Exchange in 2016, they have received support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio London, FRUK, FATEA.

They release their sophomore EP in February 2020.
