Ex-Friendly arrives on Tangential Music with electronic soul cut ‘Time & Tide’ - a heavy-hearted paean to love breaking down and hope against all odds. From the buttery overtones of the Rhodes chords to the crisp snap of the beat, it’s an ear-snagging track which speaks to the Nottingham-based producer’s background in deep, soulful house music, re-figured to build an emotive framework around the vocal song structure.

As one half of Houghton Festival residents Truth & Lies, and with scores of releases across labels such as Deep Explorer, Hot Digits, Spirit Wrestlers, Midnight Riot and ISM as well as his own People Are Looking At You, Ex-Friendly has been entrenched in the electronic music sphere for well over a decade. However, ‘Time & Tide’ heralds a pointed shift towards a more traditional kind of songwriting and his own vocal talents, drawing on lived experience to present something unflinchingly honest and setting the scene for more music to come.
