We are super excited to share our next Juicy Tunes mix from @mareikebautz with you. As soon as we heard Marieke’s high energy, positive, unique and of course SXCCC sound we knew we had to get her on the podcast series asap! 

Berlin-based DJ Mareike Bautz is known for her hard-hitting yet melodic techno sets embodying a hybrid of both 90s and contemporary vibes. Her roots lie firmly within Berlin’s underground scene, her mixing is slick and dynamic and her tracklist is full of bangers and hidden gems - she’s left no turn unturned for this submission!

BCCO Mix Series 498: Tefi

In '92 I moved to San Diego for 9 months, there my love for house music was born, especially tribal house like Danny Tenaglia, Junior Vasquez, Peter Rauhofer. When I moved back home the gayclubs in Malmö only played pop music so thats how I started my dj career at Indigo, not long after I was offered to start at the competing club FYRAN. 

At FYRAN I started my first club The Temple, a mixed club with focus on the music. I came out in San Diego and I found the rave and underground scene much more interesting than the gay scene. Mixed clubs are so much better. I started dj a lot in Copenhagen at PAN, Catwalk and The Tube. Catwalk was located where Dorsia is today and it was an after hours club just like Trixie. Since then I've done several clubs and bars, some very successful, some not so much. WONK would be the most successful, 17 years in Malmö, 3 years in Stockholm, 2 months in Gothenburg (yeah it was a flop) and in Copenhagen once a month at the gay club Foxy.

Other thinks me and my partner has done is Mr Gay Öresund 2008 together with Out And About at Pumpehuset with Amanda Lepore performing, 2021 the official closing party for World Pride at Halvandet with 3000 people. The year after the official pride party at Stagebox, not the best I've done horrible owner.

2000 I stopped as a dj, started again when we opened Trixie to save money and I feel in love with it all over again. I don't have a specific style. During my year as a dj I been shifting style a lot. From House to Trance to Techno and back again. Now I mix all styles and I'm not stuck with a specific style. I play a lot of 90s trance and techno.

My biggest inspiration are bands like Depeche Mode, DAF, Nitzer Ebb, Front 242. Djs are Mark E Quark, Peter Rauhofer, Danny Tenaglia, Tony De Vit, Alpha Tracks, Rollo (Faithless)

A true artist of her craft, Caity is a versatile DJ whose love for all BPMs is apparent in her shifting sets and skills. Boasting a hypnotic, dark, psychedelic sound, Caity's techno sets pull you in and don't let go - particularly this one!

Outside of playing, Caity also runs 150 BPM events, a collective that hosts international and local techno enthusiasts, as well as being a resident for Naarm Label/Event group Beaufort Beats. What can't she do?
