"The guys from Hinterstüberl Rec. brought me in contact with Broken Beat and Bass Music long time before I encountered Techno – so I chose to fill my podcast for their series with a whole lot of Broken Beat tracks to supplement the usual 4/4 Techno pieces.

The outcome tends to be a trip of the more extreme kind all along leading from its deep opening across the upsurge, outburst and calm-down to the emotional aftershock: Expect a rough yet dark mood, aggressive synths, abstract patterns, violent and highly percussive broken beats and a morbid atmosphere prone to industrialesque noise."

Based in Rülzheim near Karlsruhe he was able to make a name for himself in the local scene with his unique driving industrial sound.

Janek will introduce you to the darker side of electronic music with some ruthless heavy pounding rhythms surrounded by an obscure distorted atmosphere.

This is the recording of my opening set for the very first Schwarz (w/ Headless Horseman, Cloak, Cordier & Jörg Lüttringhaus) at Disco Zwei Mannheim on Oct 5th, 2019.

To introduce our dedicated guests into this very special night, I played a balanced selection of deep, atmospheric, dark and hypnotic Techno tracks – with a lot of them basing on broken beat patterns. It worked out well – and the whole event itself was simply incredible. ⚔️

Cordier at Schwarz #1 (Disco Zwei Mannheim, 20191005)

When F A S (@listentofas) and Cordier (@cordiermusic) got notice of the @shdw-music & @utobscure0010 charity remix contest for Ärzte ohne Grenzen, they quickly decided to hop on despite the current covid-19 restrictions. Using an online/remote DAW solution for the first time, they created a socialdistancing-conform collaboration remix of the acclaimed “Die weiße Rose” original.

Their ethereal reinterpretation breaks with the straightforward drive of the original while keeping (and taking a deep dive into) its hauntingly beautiful melancholic symphonies. It stands out by a wild and tribal percussive temper, but nevertheless the intense atmospheres and subtle harmonics invite you to let yourself drown in a trancy, solemn and quite introvert realm… until an aural sun breaks through the fog.
