Decided to dust off my old Moombahton project I had going in Logic. Hopefully I'll be able to work on this more while I'm at school, given I have Reason at home now.

This is another early WIP so expect me to add a lot more to it before release.

Eximplode - D.T.B (WIP)

Been in a creative funk recently so I'm getting back into the swing of things with a few exercises. Just trying out the various NES-style Subtractor patches for Reason, practising harmonisation and staying in the correct key.

Labelling this a work in progress because I might attempt more later. I know the 'vocals' are off-tempo, but if you listen to the original, Renard's were too. :)

Not To Fly (Kitsune^2 Cover) (WIP)

So... yeah. This is what happens when I get a bout of depression, stop working on my music, and then the first thing I do when I get back in the swing of things is effectively a mashup of three incomplete 140BPM projects.

Y4RR, my fudged attempt at re-creating the bassline for Feed Me's Prog House track 'Relocation', and a practice file for DnB drums have produced whatever the hell this is. It needs cleaning up, thinning out etc., but just making something that I think has POTENTIAL has really lifted my spirits.

I won't be able to work on this at school (they have an older version of Reason) but you might see another WIP Moombahton track up here soon.

Eximplode - Y4RR! (WIP 3)

Remember that annoying, pitch-bent drum loop? Well, believe it or not, it lives. Inspired by Big Beat and Fidget House, we have another attempt at Moombahton.

Still an early WIP, there are a few things I'm not happy with, including some of the filtering screwing up the drums, but it's nice to finally have something I consider worthy of a WIP post. :)

Eximplode - Fidget Beat (WIP)

Yep, after a short break, I took this back into the lab. Mike showed me how to make layered kick sounds, I'm trying out a new Subtractor patch I created for Reason, and I've also been experimenting with digital distortion.

Probably gonna try more melodic variation for WIP 3, and hopefully get the whole thing in key, since I'm pretty sure that right now it's not. Also try and clean up the mix a little, I think right now I have too much shit crowding the same frequency and it's a bit messy.

Eximplode - Fidget Beat (WIP 2)

Two WIPs in one day? Must be going insane. Anyway, I couldn't leave this alone, so I did some cleanup. Still needs more work to get it in key. Also some volume adjustments - for some reason things are getting a bit screwed up by the filter (or it's just a glitch with Reason 5, which I'll try fixing/working around later).

I think it's better than it was a little while ago, though. Do let me know what you think.

First track made using Reason ReWired into Ableton! Wasn't actually setting out to make anything in particular this time, but this turned out interesting enough that I might do something with it.

Also sorry for the recent silence, I've been really sick (and had a lot of schoolwork to do) but I'm thankfully feeling better,

Eximplode - Some Miniboss Shit (WIP)

Playing around with Sylenth1 some more, spent some time trying to get the chords and everything in key. "Toad" (NES Drum) and "Peach" (NES synth) are awesome VSTs; very limited in what they can do, but it's enough to get that authentic chip sound. :)

Eximplode - Some Miniboss Shit (WIP 2)

Annoying fidget-ish loop thing. I'm trying out different LFO settings to see what sounds I can squeeze out of Reason 5's NNXT. And 128bpm is as good as any.

Now I just have to figure out a way to automate it, which is going to be a pain in the arse. Probably going to have to re-route the through another synth to borrow its own LFO, or just do a metric assload of re-sampling in Ableton.

Eximplode - Scratches (WIP/Scribble)

Made a lot of progress in a pretty short time (about an hour or two) with this.

- Extended the ambient noise section at the start
- Added low-pass filter to reverse kick
- Fixed the pitch on the bells so it better matches the rest of the track
- Separated out the drum sounds to give the clap some better reverb
- Added a different drum beat for a small section of the track
- Spaced out sections of the track/trying some subtractive mixing

So basically everything Alex/Electrofall asked me to do, and then some.

Edit: Since I'm probably not going to do much else to this, I'm going to consider it done. This'll be on my new EP, which will be out When It's Done.

Eximplode - Places I Knew

Something dark and creepy for y'all, using a sample from one of my favorite villains. This is obviously early days, but I just wanted to upload this to test the waters. Might look into some decent strings VSTs/Patches and see where I can go from there.

I'm uploading these here so I have a backup. For class, I've been asked to create various soundscapes based on pictures or photographs, using only Synthesized sounds.

Made entirely in Reason 5 using the Subtractor/Malstrom synths.

I work mainly with Logic 8 and Reason 5 right now.
