Although many producers attempt to bridge palpable psychedelia into their music, few do it as well as Texas producer Somatoast, who's debut EP "Withinity" is out April 30th on Gravitas Recordings. Swirling chord progressions mix with a motley palette of virtuoso sound design, assuring this album is perfect for a headphone excursion. However, this does not detract from the four track EP's danceability -- strong rhythm is carried through the dubby basslines and bouncy drum arrangements. Deeply textured atmospheres wash through the listener's headspace no matter the physical environment, highlighted by fluttering echoes and spacious reverb.
