ASHLAND RISTOFF IS A SELF-TAUGHT AUDIO-VISUAL ARTIST OPERATING OUT OF NYC THROUGH VARIOUS EXPRESSIONS OF CREATIVE ENERGY SUCH AS PERFUMERY, SCULPTURE, METALWORKING AND GARMENT DESIGN WITH A FOCUS ON LEATHER, ALONG WITH AUDIO PRODUCTION AND LIVE PERFORMANCE.

THEY MAINTAIN A DEEPLY INSTINCTUAL APPROACH WITHIN THEIR CRAFT ALTHOUGH DEFINED BY ELABORATE MODIFICATION THROUGH SOURCING RECORDED MATERIAL IN A NON-LINEAR METHOD. RECORDINGS ARE COLLECTED OVER A PERIOD OF WEEKS, MONTHS OR YEARS AT A TIME, TO CONSTRUCT A RATHER INTRICATE BODY OF WORK WHICH REFLECTS ON ITS OWN PROCESS OF PAST SELF-DISCOVERY WHILE MAINTAINING A STEADY SENSE OF WHERE IT STANDS DURING THE PRESENT TIME.

low entropy: This is a track I planned to do for 27 years...
Back at age 16, when I had just begun producing, I envisioned doing an oversize track with a runtime of an hour.
But I wanted to avoid the three most common ways to do this:

1. Making a monotonous "drone"-like track with little and slow changes

2. Making a continuous live-jam

3. Making a "megamix" type of track where a succession of mini-tracks fade into each other.

What I wanted to do instead was to create a track with a complex and complicated super-structure. Where themes and sequences are introduced, broken apart, re-called, intermingled...
Where, for example, moments of the first minutes can reappear 40 minutes later, but changed, layered with other elements...
With total chaos but also steady, straight elements...

An ever-changing meta-morphosis and hyper-architecture.

I failed to do this "gigantic" project at age 16.
But slowly, over the years, I gained and collected the necessary abilities and remaining ideas to work on such a task.

And here it is!

Subtle Lines, Radiation Pattern's debut album, is a deep and personal exploration  between structure and spontaneity, form and dissolution, control and resistance. 

Drawing from his early engagement with harder techno, he distills raw intensity while interplaying with humming drones and hidden melodies.

Opening with the ethereal ‘Purifica’, the album transitions into the title track’s geometric rhythms, navigating between ambient elements and the relentless energy of club culture. 

Some of the tracks, like ‘EVO’ and ‘Summoning’, directly express the electronic music communities that have shaped Simone’s experiences—spaces of connection, defiance, and transformation that  pulse with the tensions of capitalism, hope, and revolution that his musical journey embodies.
