Almost a year has passed since the release of Ruine Noire EP which established Stroon as one of the main actors of the up-and-coming Bratislava-based generation of electronic beatmakers. And almost exactly one year later, Stroon is back with a new EP Smithereens, to be released by the Exitab label at the end of October. 

As a teaser, grab yourself two new tracks by Stroon - Alien Choir and Wait Wait Wait. Alien Choir, perhaps one of the most accessible tracks by Stroon somehow subconsciously brings to mind comparisons to Boards of Canada with its nostalgic and chilled-out atmosphere. Russian lithurgy pitch-shifted into Rama’s space choir hovers over vintage synth samples, subbass and rhytm. A rhythm that is on a journey - across cities and memories - or perhaps through a city of memories.

When minimalistic algorithmic melodies cohabit with detuned oscillators, creating a dialogue with crackles and noises, a dreamy fairytale world of noiseambient soundscapes opens. 

After several years of multifarious pieces exploring the field of (harsh)noise and ambient, Bratislava-based “Vrtačky po desáté hodině” is coming with a homogeneous work consisting of eight tracks. The whole album presents a live session recording, which is the artist’s main shift from a conventional linear “studio” approach.

In the light of a soon-to-come (now real) life event, the artist started to think about his contribution to child’s very first months. Even though he is involved also in the Slovak folklore music, playing bagpipe, fujara and other shepherd’s wind instruments, a more contemporary approach seemed fitting. A concept behind the sound design and musical style is inspired by shepherd’s playing fujara in a drone way, a research about what sounds get babies to sleep (household hum) and a simulation of noises in the womb heard at the Viennese “House of Music”. These ideas materialised into eight workspaces supposed to be played for Stela to fall asleep: not as a recording but live. One of the takes makes this album.

The personal tone underlines even the artwork done by a close friend and Stela’s “big sister”, a visual artist chaosdroid.

It’s not that common if artist release an effort of his side-project first. Teapot made that last year with his shitgaze cassette Obete sekty. Born in 1985, Tomáš Ferko produces music, which stands somewhere inbetween of dubstep, minimal techno a cinematical IDM, even though his two projects are somehow sound-merging recently. Participant of Red Bull Music Academy 2004 in Rome played dozens of gigs, standing on stage next to the Coldcut, Jamie Woon or Teebs, released remix bootleg EP Treatment and many songs and remixes on various compilations until he finally debuted in 2011 with EP Unrest II. His previous label BlueBlackMusic is gone since that, so Exitab re-releases this great record, with remixes by Stroon or Stratasoul, as a preview to his upcoming 7” and full-length.

'Exit Bratislava' brings together the best from the Slovakian, throbbing electronic capital city.

This collection has been released as a presentation of our Bratislava based Exitab Label to the United States; and same as the label, its main focus lays on introducing young up and coming artists.

All their approaches are different but all have very important things in common. From recent waves of club inspired electronica, through more ambient live instrumentation oriented impressions; to the reminders that industrial sounds are still here this collection is colorful and surprisingly coherent.

Za slovenským one-man projektom Casi Cada Minuto sa skrýva Slavo Herman. Experimentovaním s minimalistickými ambientnými textúrami v psychedelickom opare sa Slavo zabáva už nejaký ten večer, presnejšie viac ako 7 rokov.

After last month's collab with Pjoni Stroon returns with his third solo EP, our fortieth release! The EP is called Triple Farewell and although it retains specific mood of its predecessors Ruine Noire and Smithereens EPs, in terms of sound and composition it moves on completely different wavelength.

Inconspicuous vibraphone underlines intense synth soundscapes built around percussive algorithms and simple beats and thus adds an organic element into this otherwise cold-cold world. Stroon lets his compositions breathe. Slowly-layered themes invite us into this almost cinematic experience. Besides the typical melancho-step tracks with 'Karma Cookies´ Stroon finds himself in rather unknown state of mind, marked with some kind of weird not-sure-if-optimistic-or-just-dreaming aura. 'Crucial Point' or 'Between Borders' on the other hand have undeniable club potential. After his third autumn release it seems like this really is Stroon's time of the year.
