We’re beyond happy to finally share the very first recording from Refractor.

This one captures around an hour of the captivating live set by the talented French artist trois quarts taxi system, who guided us from daylight into dusk on the second day of the gathering. A sonic passage, subtle yet powerful, weaving us gently through time.

More recordings will follow soon, but for now, let yourself drift back into that moment.

Carving vast chasms of space with exacting sound design and deadly poise, @katatonicsilentio returns to the Mantis series for another round of highly detailed leftfield techno exploration.

The Turin based sound artist continues to plot her own path through contemporary electronic music, taking cues from soundsystem pressure and dubwise minimalism as much as glitchy experimentation and the meditative repetition of techno. While her output across many different labels can reach to noisy extremes and beatless atmospheres, on her latest for Mantis the Italian artist zeroes in on a hypnotic, mysterious sound cast in the icy moods of late 90s tech step and early dubstep. At all times she finds space for surprise interference even in the most austere of situations, creating a palpable tension that amplifies the deep dancefloor potential of her music and moulding powerful physicality out of subtle elements.

Tracing a path through low end tension and flickering textures, Liniae delivers a narrative suspended between clarity and distortion. A mix where gravity bends and rhythms liquefy. Quietly hypnotic, pleasantly disorienting. A story carved in low-end pulses, subtle tonal shifts  and steady, driving rhythms. Elusive, but unmistakably alive.

I met Louis at the mighty OHM in Berlin, where he worked as night manager. I hold much respect for people who hold these roles, they’re the backbone of the music scene, even if they rarely get the spotlight. Later, I discovered his music, and it genuinely caught me off guard in the best way. I’m really happy to have him on the Further Inward mix series. His mix hits exactly what I look for in music: focused, thoughtful, and with a strong sense of direction. I genuinely couldn’t ask for a better contribution.
