Back in summer 2018, I made my very first industrial techno EP, called "C'est La Vie", which means "So Is Life" (which is also the title of the sequel EP I made later on, the one with "Existence Is Eternal")
But I've never released it because it felt like it didn't fit anymore with my style. But over time, I thought that I would release it for a special occasion.

So here we are now !
"C'est La Vie" is a concept EP about life. Each track refers to a period in the process of life and death.

- Embodying Dance is about birth.
- C'est La Vie is about life.
- Disembodying dance is about death (I really like this one bc Native American traditions believe that when Death comes, you have a chance to dance your last dance, and Death has no choice but to watch).
- One Way Traveller is about afterlife.

The EP remained as it was in 2018, all the tracks stayed the same (except the artwork & mastering).

This week's Disquiet Junto prompt challenged us to a duel with a metronome: record a piece of music that weaves in and out of a steady beat. 

I assembled a trio comprising the Moog Minitaur (lead and bass), Roland Juno (pads), and Waldorf Streichfett (strings). I improvised a meandering chord sequence and spent a lot of time mixing multiple layers of analog pads to bring it to life. Against the steady backdrop of a simple percussion pattern, I recorded the lead performance on the Minitaur. Since this synth doesn't sync to the MIDI clock on the computer, riding the LFO controls manually let me improvise the swirling/cycling/beating patterns that dance within, against, and without the beat. 

About the vocals: When I was listening to the mix earlier today, I heard a momentary audio artifact that sounded like a muffled voice. This inspired me to add a vague vocal part for way back in the mix, so recorded myself reading an excerpt from "A Vision of the Night" by Ambrose Bierce.
