Fraction

Exolar is a Düsseldorf-based duo that opens up new worlds of sound in the fields of Electronica, Ambient and Techno.

The musical sphere ranges from melancholic melodies to uplifting rhythms, from energetic passages to experimental and dreamy themes.
Futuristic and conventional sounds join together and form a vast sound spectrum.

The duo consists of the two engineering students Simon Zimmermann and Yannik Brehm, who have met during their studies in Sound and Acoustics.
While Simon as a DJ and producer primarily comes from the house and techno scene, Yannik was an active guitarist in various jazz and rock bands. This particular combination of the different musical styles form the unique sound of Exolar.

Both, the recording and mixing is fully integrated in the musical work flow of Simon and Yannik. Likewise, different types of electronic equipment have been designed and built by the two musicians to meet the specific needs of their live-set performance.

In the visual domain, concerning design and video, the duo is supported by the designer Benjamin Schlemmer.

Following their debut in 2016, Exolar released their Relapse EP in October 2017 on the american Label Re:Sound. Relapse received early support from Carl Craig, Davide Squillance, Joris Voorn and Glenn Morrison.
