Lui Mafuta presents This Ain’t Jazz, a boundary-pushing new EP that fuses live musicianship
with electronic sensibility - an exploration of jazz influence through a deeply personal and
collaborative lens. 

The release is available on digital platforms and as a limited vinyl edition.

At the heart of This ain’t Jazz is a long gestating idea: to bridge electronic music with an
organic, band oriented aesthetic. Lui Mafuta reunited with four longtime friends and
collaborators: Paul Janoschka, Felix Roos, Jonas Esser and Benedikt Jäckle - who all studied
music together in Mannheim before scattering across the globe. Under the loose collective
named Weiller, they came together once again to create a sound that lives between genres.

The EP is a globe spanning production. Piano was recorded on Paul Janoschka’s Steinway in
his Frankfurt apartment; trumpet and clarinet were tracked in a rural French studio with Felix
Roos; drums came from New York via Jonas Esser; and saxophone was laid down in Lui’s own
studio in Mannheim alongside Benedikt Jäckle. All elements were finally assembled and
shaped into a cohesive vision back in Mannheim.

“There’s less synth work on this one than usual,” Lui says. “Most of the textures come from
the instruments themselves and a lot of sample mangling. I wanted it to feel raw, human and
alive.”
Despite its title, This Ain’t Jazz is a love letter to jazz’s influence. “I called it that just to be
safe,” Lui jokes. “It isn’t jazz but it’s coming from that space.” The project also serves as a
reconnection to his roots: two of the four featured musicians are teenage friends from his
earliest days making music.

Inner Symphony is proud to present Tenderheart, an emerging Ukrainian producer, debuting on the label with his EP titled “Divinity”. This atmospheric EP is a pure reflection of its title, and is compiled from three minimalistic tracks by Tenderheart as well as a Soul Button remix, proving us that beauty is simplicity.

The original track “Divinity” opens the collection. Truly ethereal, it evokes multiple feelings of blissful wonder and long yearned discovery. Its liquid currents of melodies slowly induce the desire to forget oneself in the melancholic invigoration.

Soul Button puts his own spin with a remix of “Divinity”. Its sound is uplifting and dynamic, with his classic melodic mood. Soul Button adds in some playfulness and creates a sense of youthful naiveté.

Third is the original track titled “Purity”. Unlike the first two, it has a slightly moody disposition. Coloured by illusive whispers and glassy echoes, it radiates true energy that is direct and sensual for the listeners to indulge in.

“Dancing On Water” is the last track of this captivating EP. As it gains pace, it washes away consciousness from the uncertainties, leaving to enjoy the honest melodies.

I Lost My Poncho In Istanbul is proud to present to you a fresh selection of bomb tracks from Ecuadorian mastermind Nicola Cruz and the Brazilian label honcho Pigmalião. The new release ILPI003 exposes identities from both artists in their pursuit of representing South American references comprised by local expressions mixed with afro rhythms exploited in a more obscure, avant-garde and electronic intended soundscapes.

On side-A, Nicola Cruz tracks Apnea and Marea blend dembow and soca rhythms with modular music, leaving space for these harmonics to create dance patterns. Both are a duality of ideas that have travelled across the oceans, from Africa to South America, and back, reinforcing the idea of accentuation in music, rather than the usual straight forward dance structure. These are songs that evoke a primitive feeling, crafted on a contemporary head.

On side-B, Pigmalião tracks B2 and Ocrânimo explore acid lines and syncopated rhythms for darker dance floor environments in distinct BPMs sealing a proper b-side storytelling for the release.
