The first single in the build up to the debut Unit 137 album has dropped! Hylu & Jago have teamed up with the multi talented vocalist Kosher, to bring you Pressure, a Ragga Jungle track full of thought provoking conscious lyrics and energy.

Hylu & Jago are an innovative DJ/MC production team, who work with various musicians & vocalists. Hylu & Jago’s live shows are always creative & versatile, flowing through genres seamlessly, spanning across Dub, Reggae, Jungle and much more.

This is Kosher’s debut release and sees her blend tough Ragga chats with soulful roots revival singing throughout. Kosher was born and raised in Hackney, East London, where she grew up surrounded by the rise of British dance music and Jamaican roots Reggae. Although this is her first release she is by no means a stranger to music. Kosher is a vocalist set to make waves in 2016 and beyond.

The original is complimented with a high-energy one-drop Reggae remix from the duo Ghost Writerz. This version features vocals from Jason ‘Jimmy Screech’ Bradshaw, which accompanies and compliments Kosher’s original vocal performance beautifully.

Hylu & Jago feat. Kosher - Pressure (Ghost Writerz Remix)

When it comes to dub music, fans of Jamaican reggae are likely familiar with the handful of legendary full-length LPs by giants of the genre like King Tubby, Lee “Scratch” Perry and Scientist.  Great albums like “King Tubby’s Meets Rockers Uptown” (King Tubby & Augustus Pablo) and “Super Ape” (Lee Perry) have enjoyed frequent reissues over the five decades since their releases, making spotting them in the reggae section of your local record store more or less an inevitability.  Much less visible and accessible however are the thousands of dub cuts from the 70s and early 80s released on the b-side of Jamaican 7” singles.  Known as “version sides” (and often simply labeled as “version”), these b-sides contain some of the greatest music to ever come off the tiny island.  For me, one of the joys of collecting Jamaican records over the years has been discovering killer version sides that often end up getting more time under my needle than the A-sides.  “Version Vault Vol. 1” features 21 version-sides from the Expanders Sound System crates. Been blogging, music sharing, etc. for a while now (see blog under this name) & DJing since 1982. I like all kinds of music.

Most of my playlists are not organized & just hold songs I'm interested in, many of which I haven't listened to yet. The "freeform current listening" playlist is as it says & will be updated regularly. Many of my reposts were unintentional, they were just random tracks I was trying to add to a playlist using my phone & I've got clumsy fingers.
