A long-standing name within the European electronic music landscape with over two decades of experience in the booth, Liège-based DJ and producer Jean-Yves Avarello, aka AAvA, continues to evolve as an artist. Making his production debut in 2012, he welcomed early support from artists such as Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Roger Sanchez, DJ Sneak, and Nicole Moudaber, quickly establishing his presence as a producer within the worlds of house and techno. Next up for him, early June welcomes a debut outing on Butane’s renowned Little Helpers imprint as he reveals a seven-track mini-album project, showcasing his deep and diverse range as an artist.

Combining a wealth of sounds and influences from across multiple genres, ‘Little Helpers 379’ sees a melting pot of styles from across the electronic world. From the slow-blooming, melodic opener’ Little Helpers 397-1’ to the eastern-influenced, groove-driven sounds of ‘Little Helper 379-2’ and ‘Little Helper 379-3’, AAvA’s skill for weaving rich and resonant melodies with crisp percussion patterns quickly becomes apparent.
 
‘Little Helpers 397-4’ ups the energy and delves deeper, utilising an ever-evolving web of organic percussion arrangements whilst introducing rich keys, subtle vocals, and sweeping synths throughout ‘Little Helpers 379-5’. To close ‘Little Helpers 379-6’ builds things up again as refined kicks and warped vocals float around murky low-ends, before rounding things out via the slinking, infectious tribal grooves of ‘Little Helper 379-7’.

UK artist Kris Davis’ “Bleak” EP on Christian Löffler’s dance label, Young Alaska. Löffler aims to make music that “combines melancholy with euphoria”, and it seems evident this vision is reflected in his own imprint with Davis’ forthcoming release.

The title track “Bleak” embodies that same “happysad” feel described by Löffler, with warm-sounding, tic-tock beats, crackling background atmospherics and echoing vocals. Minimal, serene and intricate, “Bleak” is a dance floor cut that’s designed to keep the floor moving in the early hours or for walking alone in a snowy forest at dusk.

If the “Bleak” EP were a landscape, Davis' B-Side “Empathy” would be the spacious swath of winter sky embracing the frozen earth. At once somber and uplifting, with airy tones and a gentle yet driving rhythm, “Empathy” takes the listener on a naturalistic ambient journey to the far-away reaches of sound.

Kris Davis’ “Bleak” EP is the second release on Christian Löffler’s Young Alaska label. Still in its infancy, the imprint has seen past releases by Christian Löffler and Mind Against.

Since arriving on the scene in 2012, Bontan has seen an impressive rise that’s gained serious attention from big names such as Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Carl Cox.

A long time friend and collaborator of Josh Butler, Bontan soared to atmospheric heights in 2013 as his remix of ‘Got A Feeling’ became the biggest selling remix of the year on Beatport. Fast forward three years and the house producer has shown no signs of stopping, with releases on Toolroom, Circus, Suara and Noir alongside appearances at some of the UK’s most iconic clubs and festivals, plus peak time Ibiza sets across Amnesia, Sankeys and Vista Club last summer.

Now, Bontan makes a return to Kerri Chandler’s MadTech Records with two energy fuelled productions on his ‘Rewind EP’, with fellow Brits Jhōnsson and Ralph Lawson also stepping in on remix duties. Today's exclusive premiere is the EPs title track, which kicks things off with a selection of sharp shuffling hats, kicks and interjecting sirens amongst a bubbling and engaging groove.
