Exploding Flowers is a Los Angeles–based band, comprised of current and former members of the Alice Bag Band, Cody ChesnuTT, The Lassie Foundation, and Ray Barbee. Exploding Flowers’ unique brew of jangle pop akin to ’70s-era Big Star, mid-’80s New Zealand guitar pop, L.A.’s Paisley Underground, and ’90s noise pop blended, mutated and swirled into their own modern-day hook-filled racket.
Exploding Flowers debuted with a 3-song EP released on Germany’s Vollwert Records/Edition 59 (2010). The self-titled full length debut album was released on Smash It Up! Records (2011). “Stumbling Blocks,” their sophomore release, was on​ ​Smash It Up! Records (LP/Digital) and The Beautiful Music (CD) (2020). The album includes guest vocals from Suki Ewers (Mazzy Star, Opal). Their third full length album, "Watermelon Peacock," was released on Meritorio Records (2025). The album features guest appearances by Rachel Love (Dolly Mixture) and Jowe Head (Swell Maps, Television Personalities).
