The world’s biggest drum &amp; bass festival is approaching and with it comes some of the scene’s most formidable imprints. With over two decades of experience, Ram has heralded the genre since its inception. And this year, they’ll be taking over the insanely engineered Factory stage with a line up like no other, featuring the heaviest names across their roster.

In celebration of their stage takeover, the imprint has provided four fresh cuts to whet your appetite. In association with the festival, they’ve picked a host of names to provide a soundtrack to your summer.

Up first comes the long awaited release of Calyx &amp; TeeBee’s ‘Get it Twisted’. Following the runaway success of their 2nd LP on Ram, this is a welcome follow up, with reverberating LFO which flicks between the vocal talents of Calyx himself. Proving they’re kingpins of the game, there’s no better way to reintroduce you to Ram’s most resounding veterans.

Then the monumental collaboration between Rene LaVice and Current Value rolls out next. A pairing seldom seen, they bring together two varying styles that merge to create something both irrevocably huge and drivingly dynamic. With Rene’s tell-tale production standard merged with the gritty, tech-infused sounds of Current Value, ‘Calm the Fuck Down’ is anything but a wind down.

June Miller’s slice of stabbing bass ‘Spin Test’ is exactly what you’d expect; ingenious in its design, with pounding drum loops amongst a tightly knit composition. A duo who come with no apologies, they’ve been on the genre’s forefront since with debut 'Robots & Romans’ LP, and this next output proves they’re here to stay.

Changing the tone slightly is Ram Records guest Madface, who once again teams up with Janine Small for a stunning vocal number that provides a lighter hue. Soft pads and vocal crescendos bring you deep into the mix, demonstrating Madface’s ability to encapsulate the versatile sounds of the spectrum’s lighter end.

So, let Ram take you into Prague this summer… As the countdown is on until this year’s biggest drum &amp; bass festival detonates subs and ear drums globally.

TELEKINESIS return on powerful form to the EATBRAIN label with 5 tracks of a truly insidious and tearing nature in the NO BRAIN, NO PAIN EP. The pseudo-friendly eerie nature of ‘Slime Gland’ leads the way, with nostalgic synth lines and airy pads punctuated by sharp steppy percussion. The amen-laced structures of ‘Meanwhile’ build into a lean assault on the ears with a bassline in a deep stealth profile tucked tight against the beat. ‘No Brain, No Pain’ delivers a schizophrenic and penetrative sonic influx, leaning towards the comedic but retaining an overwhelmingly destructive form. ‘Wipe Out’ carries the powerful vocal of Eatbrain MC favourite NUKLEAR, whilst ‘It Could Be a Trap’ completes the EP with an effective and exceptional half stepper that seeks to obliterate everything in its rave-fuelled path.

Following ‘The Nightwalkers’ EP that saw them win over the Eatbrain fanbase in 2013, Slovenian production crew Telekinesis have gone on to dominate the European drum & bass scene with heavy touring and an ever-growing fanbase. The cold, sharp light of the full moon wrapped each of them in its bitter grasp, tendrils of the deepest anger and regret encircling them as the shadows from the dense branches of the grim forest of their surroundings. Their old friend lay prone at their feet, the gun that ended that precious spark of consciousness still smoking in Lenny’s hands, his weathered face cast down, cold eyes staring at the carnage of his making. Blood flowed darkly from the head wound, a growing treacle puddle reflecting the moon above in its metallic embrace, each of their faces around it mirrored darkly in that slowly expanding pool of their brother’s end. The curse that had escaped his lips as he realized the betrayal was seared into their ears, the final glance spiked through with heartbreak entwined in deepest hate burned into their retinas. But for all their regret, their patriarch had spoken, made himself clear… the family is violence, but it is not the twisted pleasures that he had chased, and the family line, when crossed – is the very end of consciousness.

L 33 cracks open 2018 with his inimitably heavy style of ultra funky and future-focused neuro on home imprint, Eatbrain. Broken Mirror

Climbing slowly and gently out of the capsule, stepping out into a strange and unknown world. Carefully leading the foot to the bottom. A short twitch went through the body as it stepped on the unexpectedly cool steel plates. The weakened body slid limply and powerless out of the capsule.
Searching in an eternal darkness. Only interrupted by the red light cone of a warning light, which wandered evenly and in a perpetual correlation to the crying out of the alarm through the room.
The cone of fire of the warning light showed a picture of destruction. It felt as if the heartbeat would stop for a second. The soot colored the room black, shadowy outlines and deformed shapes, which were also covered with the pitch-black soot, created a frightening scenery. Pictures of memory flared up as they crossed the scene and lay like a veil on the soot-blackened backdrop. The contrast between these two realities could not be more frightening. As if you were looking at the world through a broken mirror.

Exploid is an international electronic producer and DJ hailing from Hamburg/Bremen, Germany. His passion for bass music builds up since early 2000s and has remained strong ever since. He combines strong and heavy basslines with uplifting melodies and creates a unique hybrid sound.

His inimitable brand of music is unlike anything else. Powerful, mysterious, but also melodic and densely arranged, these tracks have an immediate mesmerizing effect on audiences. Never one to chase trends, he continues to blaze his own path, exploring the depths of Drum & Bass and Tech House and constantly reinventing his sound.

Exploid has been expressing himself musically since he was a child. Born as son from a jazz musician, he started at the age of 12 with drum lessons. A few years later, he mastered the art of Bass, Guitar, Piano and other instruments. This passion for playing and creating music has never changed and has since enabled him to smash venues as musician, producer and DJ.

As much inspired by the sounds of rave, winding, wobbling and low basses, Exploid is already known for his signature dance floor smashing style, bright melodies, smooth but also heavy basslines. Despite this, he’s experimenting with every kind of sounds, genres and sub-genres. He’s pushing the boundaries, unites music and try to do something different. This has, and always will, be a very important part of his production style.
