Previously of other well-respected labels like Disco Halal and Sol Selectas, AIKON is a very promising new talent who now lands on Exploited Ghetto.
The sprightly plucked synth arpeggios of ‘Saturn’ sound as if he is imitating a middle Eastern string instrument, and the inclusion of sitar solo shimmering under the electronic elements works in perfect harmony. The rolling bassline interplays perfectly with the chunky kicks, and the combination of the elements generates a wonderful kind of dancefloor hypnosis. Meditative, magical music.
The talented Sandhog brings his atmospheric signature sound to a remix of ‘Saturn’. He feeds the sitar through a bitcrusher to great, hazy effect, contrasting with the crisp, clean sound of the plucked lead. Acidic gurgles hover subtly beneath, while various percussive hits help add accent to the groove.
‘Dishes’ walks a similarly moody and potent path. Moroder-esque stuttered bass walks its way through the pitter-patter of hi-hats, live snares and cowbells. More plucked string motifs create a dramatic tension, and the whole the drives along with a serious head of steam and an introspective feel.

Prepare yourself for a deep mind massage as we welcome Ditian to TAU. The Berlin-based producer blends melodic influences with the more mystical side of electronica to create a sound that is nourishing for the soul. With releases on Innervisions and its sub-label Exit Strategy, Ditian has established his natural flair for producing transcendent compositions that ignite the dance floor. On TAU he delivers four new tracks - each one has its own unique characteristics with Ditian’s signature flavour at their foundation.

‘Etnika’ opens the EP, a slow burner with imposing kick drums and a cacophony of industrial effects that give it an ominous, mechanical sound. Ditian incorporates a spinetingling melody which dances around the top end, increasing the drama. A short breakdown ushers in the second half, which sees the main riff modulated and twisted to increase the track’s dynamism. 

This is followed by ‘Solid Snake’, which has a famil- iar-sounding hypnotic rhythm, luring you into its intriguing web as Ditian adds more layers, creating an electronic symphony. With each part speaking to the other, the track is full of life and vigour, triggering your emotional centre and encouraging your body to move.

‘Enigma (Snake Dub)’ is next, taking us into an audio melodrama. Cascading offkey synth lines form the main riff while a bulbous low end throbs and pulsates way down deep. The juxtaposition between the top end and the bass creates a stirring contrast of sounds. Ditian flexing his crea- tive flair with this highly affecting cut. 

Last up is ‘Oktubre’, which features a range of percussion utilised with a considered approach. The pace is slower and the track builds steadily, a real testament to virtues of patience. By the end of the track we’re left with something that sounds totally different to how it started, get ready for the goosebump-inducing breakdown...

PREMIERE : S'il Vouz Play - Soul & Pepper (Yost Koen Remix)

Stripped Down co-founder Claudio Ricci makes a welcome return to his own label with a fresh new single that comes alongside carefully chosen remixes from Patrice Baumel and Dodi Palese.

Ricci has been shaping the underground scene in Europe for 20 years now, as a DJ, label owner and producer with credits on the likes of Compost, Connected Frontline and MoBlack. His weekly show on Ibiza Global Radio is a go-to for lovers of timeless house and techno and naturally he has gigged all over his native Ibiza’s finest spots as well as around Europe.

His excellent new track ‘Sternentreiben’ is a busy techno journey with electro bass, slapping hits and dark wave vocals all making for an alluring sound world. It’s a place of reflective melody and plenty of thoughtful synths, but with an irresistible groove.

Famous former Trouw resident Patrice Baumel has an elegant and emotive sound that can be warm and pensive or more peak time and energetic, as he has proven on his Global Underground mix and with releases on labels like Afterlife and Watergate. Here he flips the original into an electrifying techno roller with bright synths lighting up the skies in cosmic fashion.

Next to remix is Dodi Palese, who grew up DJing many different styles in his native Southern Italy, runs his own labels What Ever Not, Engrave Ltd and Rakale and has recently released on the like of Innervisions and Exit Strategy. First comes his fantastic Power Beats mix, a classy melodic techno track with plenty of astral synths and dancing drums that ooze futuristic soul. His second superb offering is even more direct, with trance-inducing chords bringing plenty of hands in the air energy.

This is another vital package from Stripped Down and Claudio Ricci.
