This project showcases the unique blend of Genish and Shiran's musical styles, fusing electronic beats with Middle Eastern melodies and captivating Yemeni original lyrics and vocals spread on infectious rhythms. The EP takes listeners on a mesmerising journey through a blind of distinctive musical traditions filled with grooves that are impossible to resist. Adding to the EP's allure is the exceptional talent of keyboard virtuoso, Ron Bakal. His melodies elevate the tracks to new heights, providing an exquisite touch that enhances the overall listening experience.

In the titled track “Layla” Genish builds and drops layers on top of layers until Ron’s Korg enchanting melody crawls over window-rattling bass and Shiran’s rapid-fire tenor explodes the groove’s center. The trio’s ability to shift styles is as radical as it is organic, as they drop into the nearly traditional yet futuristic mix of Yemeni language and disco touch in ‘Galbi’.

Renaissance welcomes Notre Dame back to the label having previously remixed Mr Morek‘s 'Massive Landing'. Brimming with youthful energy and creativity, the Parisian producer and DJ has also released on Three Six Zero, Stil Vor Talent and Diynamic, not least his breakout ‘Yumi’ on the latter, so Renaissance is very excited to get him back onboard. His other accolades include Pete Tong's ‘Essential New Tune’ and touring all over the world, playing at a variety of influential clubs and festivals that includes Cercle Festival, Zamna, Space Miami, Womb Tokyo, KOKO London and more… 'Geisha' grew out of a deep fascination with Japanese culture, in particular the artisans from which it takes its name and the country’s renowned landscapes; it’s a perfect musical snapshot of the orient, which also features an ‘Intro Mix’, that’ll no doubt secure a place at the start of many a set. PREMIERE: Notre Dame - What I Need [Renaissance]

After Andhim remixed it last year, Samantha Loveridge now adds her own spin to Blanka Mazimela feat. Korus & Sobantwana's 'Gcwanini'. This is her first return to the label since she collaborated with Lizwi on 'Beka' last year and after her cover of REM's 'Losing My Religion' became a big hit for the Sydney-based rising star. She has played all across the world in recent times and counts the likes of Black Coffee, Jimi Jules, and Rüfüs Du Sol as fans of her work.

Her superb remix brings some signature Afro warmth and house depth to the original. The vocal is a spine-tinging one with smoky soul while the synths keep you on edge as the drums roll on in an uplifting fashion. It is a truly standout track full of character.

Eclectic house duo andhim's remix from back in October is also included. It enriches the soul with the stirring vocals and authentic Afro-house flavours in the percussion and chord work. The rich and atmospheric original closes out this fantastic package.

Tel Aviv-based DJ and producer Takiru delivers a vibrant, dancefloor-centric fusion of warmly evolving arpeggios and driving percussive groove structures for Kiosk ID no. 027.
