Following the 2016 reissue of his 1998 LP ‘Meridian’, Ian Pooley’s Pooledmusic label will reissue his equally revered 200 follow-up ‘Since Then.’ on digital formats for the first time.  

Originally released on V2 Records, ‘Since Then.’ saw Pooley following Meridian’s sun-kissed house style with a record influenced heavily by his travels across the globe, resulting in sound that draws heavily on hip hop and latin rhythms, with vocal contributions from Opus III’s Kirsty Hawkshaw and Brazilian duo Rosanna & Zélia.  

The 2017 digital reissue also collects together the various remixes & reworks of ‘Since Then.’ tracks that featured across its various international special editions, with remixes from Global Communication’s Tom Middleton, Faze Action, Mood II Swing’s John Ciafone, Chris Duckenflield & Richard Brown’s Swag project and Lars Bartkuhn’s original Needs collective.  In addition, there are Pooley’s own alternate versions of album standouts ‘900 Degrees’ and ‘Visions’, and a previously unreleased demo version of ‘Coração Tambor’.

Shir Khan continues his flurry of activity with another release in as many weeks. Obviously preparing us for a Summer of shoulder-swinging debauchery, the Black Jukebox pumps out another set of terrace friendly twonkers for the masses, with Freiboitar and Hurlee taking charge of proceedings for number 23 in the set. "Blew My Mind" and "What's Up" are Freiboitar's offerings; both pumpin', new funky house numbers with intricate sample choppage and wonderful, speaker-teasing mixing and mastering. Hurlee's trax take up side B with "On The Floor" and transforms it into a loopy and fuzzy deep house gem. Finally "Disco Love" revisits another joyful moment of disco and funky house history, adding its own interpretation on a hook that's familiar to anyone that's spent more than a fleeting moment on the dancefloor. Strongest Shir Khan for a while this one pop pickers - don't be late to the party!

For BBE Music’s landmark 500th release, the label joins forces with Louie Vega, Leroy Burgess and Patrick Adams to revisit ‘Barely Breaking Even’, the iconic track after which the label is named.

Coaxed into the studio together by BBE founder Peter Adarkwah, Grammy winning House music hero Louie Vega, arranger extraordinaire and New York disco royalty Patrick Adams, plus the song’s original writer (and king of boogie) Leroy Burgess soon got to work. Even given the caliber of those involved in this special session, the results are simply exceptional.

Featuring live strings by The Apple Hill String Quartet arranged by Adams and Burgess, Vega’s ‘Boogie Mix’ stays faithful to the Universal Robot Band original, with potent vocal performances and a tough new groove for 2019.

It was at the string recording session for the boogie version that Louie Vega unveiled his ‘NYC House Mix’ to the assembled musicians, at which point he and Leroy Burgess quickly arranged a brand new horn section and re-wrote the song’s melody to compliment the track’s accelerated pace. What the team emerged with is so much more than a remix- it’s a unified call-back to two golden eras; that of disco-boogie and that of New York House. And it’s beautiful.
