Dedicated to the twang of Roland’s silver baseline box with a varied string of artists: DVS1, Marko East & Jordi Chu (whose collaboration sparked the idea of a whole series), Like A Tim via Prins Thomas, Katerina and I:Cube.

The Parisian put it in a nutshell, too: „Although rinsed to death to the point of becoming a parody of itself, acid will last forever.“ Therefore, his Folie Noire is combining the original recipes with hypnotic European influences, while Marko and Jordi present a rough and direct 303-909 live jam, Prins Thomas puts his wickedest smile on Like A Tim’s Wonderline from 2005 and Katerina sets a lucid dream to sanguine music.

Finally, there is a rare and much desired musical outing by the unique DVS1. A direct ode to Chicago’s acid and beatdown styles and its Midwest companions, it is a heads-down-lights-down late night track made for driving up and down Lower Wacker Drive. Trippy trip artwork by the inimitable Gasius.

Sweden on the strength! Studio Barnhus affiliates Måns Glaeser (from swedish techno boyband Off The Meds) and Basement Space team up for a very tasty EP here, showing Stockholm’s nothing to be messed with.

‘Hollywood Cole’ is a cute breakbeat track peppered with old skool rap & diva vocals, shimmering electric piano chords and a thick, undulating bassline. Refreshingly different in its approach and conjuring up a wistful mood with its soulful inflections and subtle strings.

Underground System returns to Razor-N-Tape with the ‘Looking In EP’ - a 5-track offering of fresh originals and remixes. Ranging from low-slung Balearic grooves, to driving left-field funk and urgent up-tempo backbeats, the record is a fine-tuning of the US sound, complete with their signature flute and synth soundscapes, driving percussion, and catchy offbeat vocal hooks. On the B-side, RNT mainstays Nenor and Clive From Accounts take two of the tunes into clubbier territory, with a pair of remixes that are primed for the dance floor.

Rogue Planet is about feeling like an “other,” like a planet ejected by its host planetary system. It is a personal journey encapsulating Shamanta’s South Asian roots and influences. Visuals are by internationally-known artist & muse Rajni Perera, “a painter and sculptor known for exploring how power works through the imagery of science fiction.” The album reflects Shamanta’s early life experience as a South Asian immigrant who has journeyed from the Middle East to North America, living in several different cities along the way. Adapting spiritual influences of the past, it seeks to preserve cultural relics in a future unknown. It features her 90-year-old aunt’s Indian Carnatic vocals along with hers, connecting the generational gap.

WeTurnToRed (a.k.a. Shamanta Chandran) is a Syrian-born Tamil-Canadian producer/DJ/ singer/songwriter, and scientist based in Toronto. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, she studied and classically trained in opera and jazz as an arts high school kid. Her deep love for electronic music was ignited after her older brother introduced her to the mid-90s Toronto rave scene.

After experimenting in the studio for over a decade, delving into melodic nuances of modular and analog synths, it was clear that growling basslines and haunting melodies were the subjects of her affection. She made her mark in Toronto’s electronic music scene through live hardware deep house/tech-no-focused sets. As a DJ, she is a quality selector of many genres—everything from hip-hop, reggae, house, techno and what’s in between.

With the debut mini-album of his new project Olekhar, experienced Canadian DJ of Ukrainian origin Alexander Harris presents his personal vision of how the music of the future may sound.

"Jays in Space" results from a successful experiment in the hybrid crossing of spacey electro with proto-house. Although light and unobtrusive at first glance, this music is made with laboratory precision. In each of the five tracks of the mini-album, Olekhar deftly hid many cultural codes: echoes of the 90s, the influence of different scenes, and the legacy of cult labels.
