We’re happy to introduce you to Exploited Ghetto, the new Exploited sublabel.

Early support for first release by Laurent Garnier, AME, Lee Foss, DJ Sneak, Riva Starr, Maxxi Soundsystem, B Traits/BBC Radio1, Dubfire, Waiffs & Strays, Tensnake, Karotte, Worthy, Kiki, Edu Imbernon, Hackman, Till Von Sein, Brett Johnson, Fred Everything, Agoria.

While Exploited continues to release music from its key artists, Exploited Ghetto is dedicated to one-offs, newcomers but also friends from the extended family. 
The first release is courtesy of Mennie. Together with production partners Bambook he kept a Top 5 position for months with the track „Slip Away“ in the Beatport Deephouse Chart.

With remixes for Scuba on Circus Recordings and more original material, the future is looking bright for this newcomer from Florence. DJMag Italy recently named him one of the most representative Italian emerging house producers. He keeps a residency in Club999 where he shares the decks with many international DJs and keeps continueing playing 5 hour sets.

The Munich based duo Coeo are the stars of our fourteenth release. Florian Vietz and Andreas Hopfl have presented us with three original tracks with nice and special character. Closer EP is definitely a landmark release for us at Lagaffe Tales which challenges us to follow up with this new standard in the following future. The title track Closer is the star of the release. What stands out if the great percussion work and hauntingly beautiful vocal sample, whispering into our ears. As if the original track was not enough, we were lucky to get one of our biggest influences; Lay-Far to remix the track. The remix takes the percussion work to the next level and still staying true to the original mix. Lay-Far does not disappoint and makes sure that we connect memories we hold dear to the track. Mind Games is a beautiful piece with a tight baseline and enchanting piano atmosphere.  The duo bring to the table another beautiful piano sampling piece in the third track Timid Dancer. The whole EP has encouraged us to work harder and to grow in the right direction as a label.

It’s a very exciting time for Soul Of Hex right now.  Not only have they hit upon a rich vein of creative inspiration and clearly loving every second of being in the studio making some brilliant music, but the young duo from Tijuana also seem to be inadvertently, or maybe purposefully, shaping a fresh new direction for the Mexican house scene. Taking influences from Detroit via Berlin, and with a knowledge of house, jazz, funk, soul and disco which goes way beyond their years Sebastien Vorhaus and 4004 are in the vanguard of this new generation of house producers and are already making their mark worldwide through releases on CVMR, MCDE, Faces and their own Vicario LTD imprint. 

With close links to, and a residency at The Wherehouse club in Tijuana, a Boiler Room set under their belt, a blistering live set currently being prepped, a remix and support from Larry Heard and further releases scheduled for Quintessentials and Faces, we’re happy to have got in quick while we have the chance and can present to you this lovely release entitled The Muth. 

Opening up we have The Third Eye, defined by a slowly modulating rhodes pad, octave bassline and a dusty drum groove to move you.  Next up is The Muth, another killer bassline (giving us a good idea that Vorhaus is in fact himself a bass player, despite this being a sample - the clue’s in the title!).  Laid back sunshine vibes all round with sporadic rhodes and tropical percussion fills. 

Flipping over we have a remix from hotly tipped Londoner Henry Wu.  Who other than the Peckham-based beatmeister and Jimpster’s favorite new producer to work his magic?  And work it he does!  Vibes for days on this one, adding his own unique sound to the existing parts.  Closing out the EP we have a third original going by the name Sly Batuque.  Once again the boys have got that sample heavy chopped up MPC groove down to a fine artform and it provides another example of why Soul Of Hex are about to cause such a stir.

San Francisco outfit PillowTalk's own Michael Tello has remixed the Denali single, one of the stand out tracks on the second album from Life on Planets 'Assemblage Points' released last December. It's the first glimpse at the upcoming package of remixes that will be released on July 4th on Better on Foot recordings, along with other versions from LA's Droog, Berlin based Private Agenda, and Mallorquin band Round Shaped Triangles, among others.

PREMIERE: Life On Planets - "Denali" (Michael Tello's PillowTalk Remix)

The “Soul Clap Remixes” leads with a bang.  Instrumental jam, “Funk Bomb” gets a proper re-rub by Blakdoctor aka Los Angeles rave legend Doc Martin and Blakkat, who strip Funk Bomb back to the essential groove, beefing it up for dance floor hypnosis with just the right amount of dubbing, FX and vocal ad libs by frequent collaborator, Lilia. Underground Italian New Disco expert Jolly Mare flips “Future 4 Love” into a primetime Italo beast, complete with marching disco bass, call and response synth leads and plenty of modulated melody. Obas Nenor, known for his work with Moodymann’s Mahogani music as well as his own imprint Nenorion, delivers a funk bassline driven version of “Dirty Leslie” that focuses on the original vocals but leaves plenty of room to breath and dance. Finally, Soul Clap Records own resident Jamaican David Marston totally reinterprets “Numb”, reshuffling and looping Ebony Houston’s vocals around a beautiful and melodic downtempo feel. Myles Karp’s guitar and bass work shine through and muted trumpet from Aquiles elevates this remix to a whole new level of class and sophistication.
