Meet O.N.O: the new Parisian electronic duo.
Comprised of French comedian and DJ, Nathalie Duchene, and her friend Rudy Kobain, O.N.O is a project formed through their connection on the Paris electronic scene. They decided to try their hand at collaborating, and ‘Modern Dance’ is the first fruits of their burgeoning relationship.
“ I produce a lot everyday but I hardly ever finish my tracks ” says Kobain. “ I sent Nathalie my favourite one and she had wonderful ideas on how to continue this one and finish it. ” They completed the track at his home, and once he showed her more of his works-in-progress, she had plenty more ideas on how to carry them to the finish line. “ The same magic happened: she knew what to add to make it a hit.” It was clear that a formidable partnership was being created.
‘Modern Dance’ is a funk-fuelled house/disco cut filled with bold sounds. Slinky, plump bass grooves against the taut drums while pitch-bending synths create a dramatic backdrop. A shimmering, plucked lead motif cuts through the mix with no warning to create a mystical and captivating melodic focal point. Recordings of gossiping ladies fill the breakdown, adding more drama still, and swooping strings provide the finishing touch. Fierce, funky and full of attitude, it’s a surefire hit. “ It’s a perfect track to show our world. We wanted to create a track you can dance, eat, drink and make love to. ”
French dance music royalty and personal friend of the duo, Yuksek, amps up the bass funk on his remix, slides in some gentle acid tones and generally pumps the whole thing up. There’s an almost old skool rave euphoria in the widescreen sounds of his pads and strings and some clever edits and FX provide moments of unexpected juxtaposition. “ Nathalie has known him for years and he was immediately super excited to remix the track. He totally brings the tracks to the dancefloor!”
‘Rockarz’ is a mighty ‘b-side’ that channels ‘80s electro pop to great effect, with chanted male vocals set against airy female harmonies and rubbery bass melody underneath. Glass chimes and resampled synths provide the additional colour, and all in all it’s a camp dancefloor workout.
With their tracks mixed by Super Discount’s Julien Delfaut, their glorious tracks are finished off in a punchy technicolour sheen. “ I have known him for a long time and he is one of the best mixers in Paris. Thanks to him we have a special sound that you can find all over our upcoming EPs.”

Sandhog returns for its second bite of the cherry with Exploited, following the well-received ‘Endless Dimension’ EP. Fresh with another two hot tracks that are full of ideas and colour, it’s another impressive outing.
Combining skanking reggae rhythm, electric guitars solos and a pulsating house groove might sound wrong on paper, but it works a treat on ‘Cabassa’. The off-beat skank creates a vibrant push-pull against the thick synth bassline as ticking percussion provides further energy. Filtered synth trumpets and disco guitar licks add colour, along with percussive fills and the occasional screech of the guitar. It’s house. It’s tropical. But no, it’s not tropical house . It’s something much more mystical and sophisticated than that. A real odyssey of a track, it’s filled with thoughtful little touches right to the end that ensure an constantly interesting listen.
‘Night Flight’ continues the tropical feel in a more stripped-back fashion. A nagging bass hook burrows its way through sparse beats, a groove slowly building through light synthetic textures and carefully placed percussive hits and fills. Sounds are buried deep in the mix: a violinist here, an accordion there. A hypnotic breakdown sets your head spinning as a bitcrushed synth zig-zags its way into your mind and the track ebbs and flows magically, constantly shape-shifting.

2020 has been quite the year, not only for obvious reasons but also in our release schedule. After welcoming the wondrous Cosmo & Kramer to the label with their nu-disco delights on ‘Bingo Fun’ EP, we now see SOLIDE family member, Kalyma, returning with a solo release in the form of ‘Clipper’.
It’s been a moment since Kalyma appeared on the label alone, having teamed up with D.Y.A. back in January for another edition of their ‘Operator’ series. In the control seat on ‘Clipper’, Kalyma follows up last year’s ‘Tanger Night Drive’ EP, bringing forward his innate knack for well-crafted rhythms.
On ‘Clipper’, punchy kicks lay the foundation alongside ticking cowbells and funky synths. Kalyma injects a certain glow with warm chords, all wrapped up in a distinctly juicy melody. The perfect soundtrack for sundown sets.

Host of Granada-based Mordisco Club parties, where the likes of Jennifer Cardini, Red Axes, Fort Romeau, John Talabot and Pional - to name a few - have graced the decks, half of the Spanish DJ and producer duo Mordisco kicks off his own label. Latido channels a dark disco sound with influences ranging from italo to punk, encapsulating a sound where both synths and guitars feel at home on 4/4 beats.

Up to the bat for the inaugural release are a slew of talents ranging from Mexico’s Globemaster, Berlin-based Alejandro Molinari, Tel Aviv’s RINA & Benji and composer Agle.
'Sal Al Club' sets off proceedings with a new wave atmosphere, showcasing Globemaster’s rave influences as well as his sound design chops. 'Crepusculo' dives into the murky side of the dancefloor shadows, accented with a brooding vocal and eerie pads. 'Robbie Kane' contains fragments of an interview of Margot Robbie, as her voice lights up the atmosphere intertwined with spiralling synths and mellow key pads. 'Vacation For You' describes another journey into the deep and cloudy side of the spectrum, alternating between an upbeat lead and the ruminating bassline.
