There's a lot of amazing techno about at the minute. If you want the funky hardgroove style stuff, this maybe isn't the one for you. Basically this is how I'd like to structure a full two hour set - starting off with the deeper, trippy tracks and progressing right up to the hefty gear near the end, finishing with an all time classic.

This month we welcome Ryan Dallas, a seasoned DJ from Belfast. With  previous residencies at the legendary Stiff Kitten, Shine and DSNT, Ryan has been DJing in Belfast's clubs for close to 15 years. 

He’s set the mood for some of the techno world’s biggest DJ’s including Alarico, Ben Klock, Dave Clarke, Sunil Sharpe, Surgeon, DVS1 and Speedy J. He’s also been a regular at Belfast's AVA festival, Northern Irelands biggest electronic music festival as well as Corsica Studios in London and Griessmuehle in Berlin.

In 2022, he started Coda, a new night in Belfast, alongside a few other well established locals. Having become disillusioned with how the genre has become so diluted, Coda is focused on bringing back the real sound of techno.

More recently, Ryan has also been putting the hard hours and effort into creating his own tracks and productions, one of which was released on EUN Records last May.

This set goes hard from start to finish and demonstrates why his name is synonymous with pure, unadulterated, hypnotic techno.

Deserted Contempt

A big long mix with a load of trance dating from around 1997 through to about 2005 (I think)...that was around the time I stopped paying any attention to Trance. Had a LOT of good times to these tunes over the years in places like The Coach, Kellys, Gatecrasher & Godskitchen. A good few of them will probably seem a bit cheesy now, but fuck it... who cares?

My version of a classic by Jimmie Davis and Charles Mitchell (also famed for Johnny Cash version); the chorus for which, my partner and me have sang to each other for many years.

I had a dream a few nights ago, which included this song and the events I mention.

Our Glimmer

Snippets, loops and samples from my creative process during a time when physically and psychologically I felt like everything was just falling apart and I didn't know what was coming next for me in 2016. creating sounds was the only way I could stop my mind from thinking about what was going on in my life at the time.

*Fast forward to 2025: I'm still here, 2016 was a rough time. Eventually doctors found out what was going wrong and I have a lot of people around me to thank for helping with everything! Looking back, this account is a good audio diary for what I went through and I will keep it here.
