Radio Slave announces Rekids Special Projects ‘Actualize’ compilation and DJ mix - Part 1 will be released in January, with Part 2 to follow in February 2023.

Rekids Special Projects, the no-nonsense techno-focused sub-label of Radio Slave, aka Matt Edwards’ Rekids, launched in 2017 and has since released music from the likes of Mark Broom, Luke Hess, Jon Hester, and more. For the 50th release, Edwards readies ‘Actualize’, bringing acts from the wider Rekids universe into one slick collection, with the first part arriving this January alongside a DJ mix of the tracks.

“The original concept was a vinyl-only offshoot of Rekids, focusing on techno and a home for our extended family of artists. We’re now working with so many new and exciting young artists, such as Confidential Recipe and the incredible Theo Nasa, and Rekids Special Projects is a rock-solid platform to shout about good quality club-focused techno music. Marcal is back for round two on Dustin Zahn’s Enemy Records with “Cyber Dystopia.” Marcal’s trademark grooves and clever vocal processing make this one of his most exciting and hypnotic records yet. It’s pure class…there isn’t much else to say!

BUT we have to try anyway…
“Cyber Dystopia” starts off with Bionic Jungle, a trippy peak time roller sprinkled with uh, lifeforms or something? We haven’t been able to identify them, which is just proof that Marcal is living on another planet we haven’t been to yet. We’re standing by for the invite.

Moravex’s Paradox picks up where Bionic Jungle left off…chugging along in his signature style. It’s loopy. It’s tooly…but still heavy on the grooves, making it a perfect fit in deep and peak time sets alike.

Nothing About the United States hits a little harder and darker. Dissonant drones and catchy sound design take over, flipping the switch from “party” to “punish.” For fans of his recent track on Enemy, “Never Wrote This.”

Don’t Fear the Three is a classic Marcal percussive workout in heads-down mode. It’s as equally powerful as every other track on the record.

“Cyber Dystopia” is all about the world we are living in right now: artificial intelligence, smart houses, smartphones, self-driving cars, deepfakes, fake news, cybernetic warfare, metaverse, social networks, the internet of things, machine learning, virtual reality...
We are definitely entering a new stage of civilization, the post-modern era.
But,
Are we living an 'apocalypse of self-abdication' already? Or we are, as humans, simply evolving as technology evolves? There will ever be a limit to technology? Will it help as much it can also destruct?

We will find out soon.
