Exposure Therapy Livestream #13 schweppoo

For this weeks podcast we invited the German-based Schweppoo (https://soundcloud.com/schweppoo). 

His sound can be best described as hard and pounding techno with elements like groovy and funky melodies, bouncy rolling sounds & hypnotic and rumbling grooves. He always tries to retain the soul of his sets by shifting sometimes to some more minimal style beats while always maintaining the progressive structure.

From an early age he was already making music, trying things out with drums and percussions in bigbands he created a big interest in creating rhythms and melodies. When he met the electronic music he was fascinated by the options and the creativity which was possible here! About three years ago this resulted in the start of his DJ’ing career. After starting at some smaller locations the events went bigger and his craft of experience grew along the time. About the best things of DJ’ing he said: ‘’Feeling the music, the control over creating an atmosphere through music and composing tracks together just feels absolutely amazing and is now a huge hobby & ambition for me. After coming out of a event I am always overwhelmed by emotions, this is irreplaceable for me’’. 

By the years he sees right now a positive development in the scene: “ …at the moment I am very happy with how the techno music scene is transforming, I see a lot of influence coming from the Netherlands & Berlin. Having that classic structure of driving & groovy techno while brining the old classics from the 90s back“. His love for 90’s techno came to the light when we asked him about his idols, names like Chlär, Anetha, Adam Beyer, MRD, Julian Muller, Narcisss passed by as artist which influenced his sound.

For the first Podcast of the new year we invited an old friend of the series to provide a mix for the second time.  None other than the up and coming German artist Schweppoo is back after last time's success!

 Just like last time, he returns with his unique sound focused on classic techno that is always guided by grooves and rhythmic patterns.

 Maximilian hasn't been quite since the last podcast, when we ask about the past few months he says the following about it: “The past few months I was really occupied with playing a lot in different cities for various occasions and gaining experiences through that.  I've came more and more to realize what is important to me as an artists and to further develop my style.”

In addition to his rise as an artist, his collective @ Haaggäßle Kollektiv is also growing locally.  Schweppoo: “Our collective works on keeping up the spirit of good alternative electronic music and events in our city.  It is something that surprisingly a lot of people are supportive cause it's apparently really rare in our hometown.”

 After last time and the developments in the past few months, we are curious what the future will bring.  In any case, we will keep an eye on it and are happy with a second collaboration!

I'm happy to announce my latest upload! The recording was made at Different Spaces on April 29th, 2023 in my beloved Lehmann Club in Stuttgart. Since I got the Warm Up slot, I tried my best to take the dancers on a journey. I played some old tracks, but also a lot of new ones. Since we made a smooth transition at the end so as not to interrupt the vibe, the recording stops after 2 hours. Enjoy :)
