Combine Footwork, Grime and Progressive Electronic and then circle these elements back to Drum & Bass, that’s how you land on to the intricate and unconventional world of Lakeway’s music. There’s something inspirational about Lakeway’s refusal to accept the notion of style boundaries. Over the years, he has been one of the champions of innovating Bass music in the UK - with releases on some of the biggest labels in the game.

As Lakeway enters Version 2.0 of his musical career, we are honoured to help bring his newest release, the “No Escape” EP, to the world.

A combination of three heavyweight club tracks based around the 170bpm axis and a slower introspective grime collaboration with PAV4N, the EP follows no musical directive and is remarkably unique.

‘Lighter,’ ‘Unrequited Dub,’ and ‘All Massive All Crew” are all peak-time medicine - unapologetic big-room bangers with an experimental edge. On ‘No Escape,’ Lakeway teams up with Foreign Beggar’s front man PAV4N, to record an altogether different piece of work. Artfully combining elements of both ethereal melancholy and invasive industrial grime, together they explore one of the many sonic hairline fractures that exist between traditional musical tropes.

Currently housing artists with Number 1 in Juno’s weekly Dubstep list, multiple features on NOISIA radio, releases with Wonkay records, write ups on DnB Warehouse Magazine and runners up in the Midnight Massacre online DJ streaming competition, Expression Audio is home to a plethora of unique and gifted artists. Musicians making everything from Drum n Bass to Experimental Techno and Noise music, from Lo-Fi Hip Hop to Deep Dubstep, from House to Ambient Classical pieces and artists making everything from AV movies to clay model album covers. 

Started by fed up, gig-less friends looking at lineups in a rainy uni smoking area, Expression Audio has grown from being a way for close friends to get gigs to being a budding label and musical outlet in a little over a year. With massive focus put on finding talented artists to grow the roster after being thrown into a national lockdown by COVID, Expression Audio now has over 15 insanely talented artists, multiple releases each month and has no plans to slow down.
