vol. 55 comes from Eastern Distributor, a fast-rising producer and DJ out of Warrang/Sydney with a penchant for creating and mixing energetic, proggy, trance-tinged techno, electro and broken beat. He's also one of the minds behind @shed_syd as well as resident at local techno party Renegade. Daniel's slew of self-releases and contributions to local labels like @innertheft and international labels likle @pokeyprods are all killer and his mixes are just as good, with the @bizarro-recs mix being one highlight. His melt mix treats us to an engaging selection of diverse electronica spanning a wide variety of genres, tempos and moods, from dubby slow jams to speedy prog. We love it!

Although Sage Hunt wasn’t born into the UK hardcore continuum, the UK hardcore continuum was decidedly born into her. In the space of her relatively short career, they have fast become one of the scene’s most recognised names, having shared lineups with the likes of Conducta, Sam Binga, collaborated with Oakland badgal bored lord, and appeared on our last TIN compilation alongside Soul Mass Transit System with Sexy Thing. Vancouver’s @destratavan debuts on Scuffed Recordings with three warping, club-ready tracks. 

In his short career so far, Destrata has worked with a who’s who of essential underground labels, making his debut in 2021 on Martyn’s seminal 3024 with the hybrid drum workout ‘Bait & Switch’. 

Now making his first appearance on London’s Scuffed Recordings, Destrata offers up three new tracks on the Mutationist EP.

On the title track, Destrata lays out a statement of intent with chopped vocals, lurching bass and tension-building synths.

Welcome to another episode of Select the Motion! 

This week we have a very talented duo who go by the name "pear". The duo, Izzy and Vic, are a pair of friends who fell in love with techno on a Tuesday night in Kyiv, Ukraine. Since then, they’ve dedicated themselves to creating thoughtful mixes that blend heavier techno with melodic electronica. Their sets aim to be ambient, emotive and engaging - featuring artists such as I Hate Models, DJ IBON, Paula Temple and Schacke.

Bracing the decks with some sweet selections this week we have the very talented, Pharmakos.

Pharmakos, aka James Heydon, is not currently affiliated to any club or night but the aspirations are fairly simple: to see the nightlife rise back up to where it should and give people the cathartic release they need. Genres partaken in range from jungle and breaks, right down to the murky depths of industrial techno. Pharmakos has a deep passion and affinity for music, working tirelessly to hone in and perfect his craft to provide nothing but sweet, aural delicacies

We are up to episode 5 of Select the Motion and as we draw nearer to the zenith of what has been a plentiful aural journey, we are braced by the very gifted, Red Rey.

Red Rey is a non-binary, Filipino, Sydney based DJ & performer. Their music is influenced by queer club culture, sex-positivity, and warehouse raves. Red Rey is part of Ante, an arts collective celebrating people of colour and also an alumni of Ayebatonye’s, Irregular Fit DJ program. Red Rey has recently also appeared on the Covid Room and Room2Radio Line-ups.

Tribal in both rhythm and harmony, with lots of low-end rumble and gritty overtones, their mix extracts the listener out of the mundane and into a distant realm.

For this edition Select The Motion we have Tamara Radosevic.

With a passion for electronic music that started at the young age of 13, Tamara’s sound has developed and grown from all forms and styles of techno. With the biggest influence deriving from the dark depths of Berlin, there is also a love for strong ambience and whacky synths.

His selections and productions typically revolve around the higher energy levels of techno, electro, bass, breaks, acid, and grime. This mix being no exception, ranging from 140 - 180bpm of face-melting breakbeat and footwork.
