Sheffield breakbeat champions & ​Club Glow​ collective members ​Denham Audio​ make an appearance on ​Lobster Theremin​ with ​Transcendence​.

Club Culture​ is a heady tribute to UK rave culture, combining classic breaks with a monologue from generations past. Denham Audio speed things up on ​Retort​, fusing their love of breakbeats with a sound palette ubiquitous with acid house. On the flip, patois bars punctuate the bleeps-and-breaks of ​Run Da Ting,​ while the vocal layered between ​Top Boy​’s whirling bass and digitally distorted drum programming may be recognisable to some. Closing track ​Transcendence​ is an ethereal jungle roller with guest vocals from 7ip7o3, that rings true to its name.

‘Transcendence’​ drops Friday 12th March, via ​Lobster Theremin​.

Mycelium is the first track from ZeRu, a collaborative project between @nakedwookie & @z_james. It's a mind-bending journey - mixing electro, breakbeat & jungle influences with jazzy harmony & far-out synth design. The result is a suitably tripped out track, with sounds reminiscent of 90s video game soundtracks.

Definitely one of our most off-kilter & experimental releases on the label so far, but still designed to do the job at a rave!

Gimme A Break Records is honoured to present “Red Handed”, the first collaborative EP from label regulars Papa Nugs and Phasmid. Featuring everything from gritty wobblers and chunky breaks to acid arps and outrageous amens, this collection of five tracks is bound to send any crowd into hysterics. Alongside two individual productions and the co-produced title track, this EP offers up two undeniably rude remixes of the gents’ tracks from GAB’s first vinyl release. 

Both Papa Nugs and Phasmid have been making serious waves in the UKG and Breaks scenes of Leeds and London. Nugs has crafted an extremely unique production style as epitomised through his Milk and Beans EP for Ba Dum Tish. Similarly, Phasmid has consistently delivered furious basslines and crisp breakbeat concoctions for a number of labels, including his very own Taipan Trax. Having collaborated previously as part of 128kbps, as well as playing b2b at PLURPROJECT, Papa Nugs & Phasmid display a devilishly playful musical chemistry across “Red Handed.”

Over And Out label head and all-round speed garage bubbler Xander joins the Breaks N Pieces family with his sights firmly set on deep and dark 2-step grooves following a string of killer Bandcamp releases through his own DIGI series.

Those with a keen ear for the emerging producers sound will have heard lead track ‘Restless’ across the BBC Radio 1 airwaves as part of Jaguar’s show; Looney Tune inspired sound effects give a whacky feel to the growling bassline and crisp percussion, before Break-a-Dawn provides a glimpses into a previously unexplored side of the Xander sound - dreamy atmospherics mould with playful vocal samples and rolling breakbeats in a killer blend of warm-up and UK energy.

‘Untitled (Afterhours Mix)’ is designed specifically for the club; large wubs and stipped-back production make for a minimal wobbler designed to set dancefloors alight, while ‘Don’t Stop, Won’t Stop’ maintains the darkness with flashes of screw-face brilliance.

Finally, Main Phase comes through with massive speed garage remix of ‘Don’t Stop, Won’t Stop’ crafting for sweaty hugs and beautiful moments on the dancefloor.

Brighton-via-London duo Heritage return to Scuffed Recordings with brand new garage track ‘Chrome’, out 11th February 2022 on the Scuffed Bits singles series.

Heritage last appeared on Scuffed in 2020 with their ‘Revelation’ EP, and the title track has since become one of the defining tracks from the UK label. The EP saw wide-reaching support from the likes of Oneman, SHERELLE, Anz, and Moxie, and showed Heritage’s diverse production chops from upbeat breaks to moody, heads-down UK bass.

Now making their return to Scuffed, Heritage present ‘Chrome’, which leans heavily on the duo’s UK garage influences with a swung groove, pulsing bass, and undulating synths.

Scuffed Bits started in January 2022 as an outlet for digital-only singles, launching with ‘Purple Hilt’ from 95Bones and Scuffed co-founder Wager. Scuffed Bits will run alongside the main Scuffed Recordings schedule with new releases each month from artists on the Scuffed roster as well as friends of the label.

‘Chrome’ will be released on Scuffed on all digital platforms on 11th February 2022.

Bash (AKA Julio Bashmore) graces Trules fifth release and the first in a series of ten inch white label singles with Jubilee, a sub heavy, minimal, UK garage dub that manages to marry the sparser techno vibes of his Conch releases with the subtle anthemic quality of his other alias. A real dance floor sneak bomb.
Al Wootton provides a two-stepping dub remix on the B-side, chopping the drums and echoing everything out to infinity.
