Needles at the ready, as the Dr prepares to inject us with shot number -31 of the ec2a Dubplate Collection, this one being a certified cure for those dancefloor withdrawals as we witness the walls of our clubs heating up once again. 

After a year's stint of delivering an array of bass-heavy flavours during difficult times, ec2a continues to push boundaries in the scene and is quick to provide yet another release that is aptly ready for the dance. The Dr has been sure to pick up the pace, and rightly so, as this selection takes us back to what can only be described as that ‘90’s jungle mania’ - when the rave was first popping off. 

Who better to be behind the buttons than Bristol-based powerhouse Roy Bar, having had well-received releases on labels such as CNCPT and Locus Sound and whose audacious productions have recently become a testament to the city's underground scene. After teasing us with a free download ‘The Right Way’, Roy Bar kicks off with his latest version of ‘Ode’ (A-side), as he brings to us a think-break-filled steady roller that has been brewing in the archives for a hot minute. Yet it remains timeless and now sits alongside ‘Dangerous’ (B-side) which boasts archetypal jungle with a melodic synth twist. 

As we re-enter the rave, this release is essential to the nostalgic notion of electronic bass music. Go cop and make history.

It’s time for GAB MIX 043 and this week we are delighted to welcome DJ Ammi onto the series! The Bristol-based DJ can usually be found chilling somewhere between 130 and 140 bpm in the company of her extensive record collection. Opening things up with some dub, DJ Ammi seamlessly moves into the mix’s main body centred primarily around dubstep. Showing her versatility, Ammi effortlessly blends in some club-ready UKG and breaks for good measure. As well as launching her own event ‘It’s a Bristol Thing’ on Sep 24th at Dare to Club, you can catch DJ Ammi at upcoming gigs in Bristol, Leeds, Nottingham, Newcastle or on her monthly 1020 radio show, ‘Daydreams on Wax’. With top-notch selections and seriously polished flow there’s no doubt that DJ Ammi will be one to watch this year!

This week it is our absolute pleasure to welcome Granite onto the GAB guest mix series! There’s no doubt that in the past we have often flung around the word “eclectic.” However, Granite’s 90 minute whirlwind through UK funky, jersey club, dubstep, grime, drill, breaks, UKG, electro and jungle has redefined this word for us. 

As a resident on Subtle, Granite has supported a range of DJs and producers emerging from Leeds and further afield. Also, through Revinyl Sessions, Granite has found a way to push vinyl culture in Leeds while raising money for charity. Don’t sleep on this one it’s a serious journey!
