The Eurasian Scops Owl (Otus Scops) is the only European owl that undertakes a long migration from south of the Sahara desert up to southern and eastern Europe to breed in the early Spring. 

This recording was made late at night on the Old Golf Course of Mandelieu La Napoule. A number of Scops Owls were calling to one another from the trees around the golf course.

When I first came to Los Angeles, I was excited anytime there were stars around. Like a lot of people, I thought proximity meant something — that seeing famous faces up close was part of the magic.

After I met a few, that feeling faded. Some jobs came with strange rules about no eye contact. Others came with people who clearly weren’t okay. It didn’t feel special anymore, just uncomfortable.

Parasocial Media is about that shift — the moment when admiration turns into illusion, and attention replaces connection. It’s a modern pop look at how easily we mistake access for intimacy, and how tempting it is to live through someone else’s life instead of our own.
