Note: I let my words run away with me, there are 5 Confucian Classics, and the Four Books of Confucianism. I refer to the Four Books as the Classics, but that was an honest brain fart. 

Contemporary Scholarship following the edition of the book I cited for the time of Confucius has moved Confucius's lifetime to the year 551 B.C.E. rather than 511 B.C.E. as previously thought. This places Confucius in the tail end of the Zhou Dynasty and the Spring and Autumn Era.

A 24 Part Lecture Series by the Great Courses

In this podcast, I hope to give the first of hopefully many Student Lectures. Hopefully, not all of which are done by myself, I certainly hope that all of my peers get a chance to give a talk or have a conversation about a philosophical idea.  In this mini-lecture, I want to talk about Confucianism as a humanistic philosophy and how it can help us lead a more grounded and human-centered life in the 21st Century. I hope we can also integrate Western Values like Gender Equality and Social Development into Confucianism.

Eye On Philosophy Episode 2: Confucianism for the 21st Century

In this podcast, I talk about the legacy of Carl Sagan, both as a teacher and as a moral philosopher. Those of us who think of Sagan, often if I am being candid only see him as an astronomer, and public educator, while he did both fabulously and I do expand on the latter, I feel not much mind is paid to him as a moral philosopher. 

I get into some shaky subject matters here, when I say,  "I don't believe that the science of human-caused climate change at a rapidly accelerating rate is up for debate."   I do not mean to say is that you shouldn't investigate and think critically about the data. By all means, let's be skeptical.  I rather am of the position that I find debate only useful between less empirically backed concepts and phenomena. For instance, the ethics of capital punishment or between conflicting political views.  I do not feel that there is a worthwhile use in debating scientific fact. That is more of what I would call, "cherry picking."  We have the data, the debate enters into play with what we do with that data. That's what I am aiming to demonstrate here. I will attach some of the most credible sources I know to support myself below, I will say I only go through peer-reviewed, and largely respected sources. That's my personal preference and commitment to academic endeavors, I know that there may be offshoots both for and against the data, but I really am going to stick with the work published in peer-reviewed journals or conducted experiments in and by the international community.
