Entering the heart of the summer season, Clubsonica Records celebrates their milestone one hundredth release by welcoming Kamilo Sanclemente back to the label for a new EP. With a near decade long history, Juan Pablo Torrez’s Clubsonica Records has risen to the top of the progressive house landscape. Now considered one of the genre’s elite imprints, Clubsonica has been a home for Alex O’Rion, Analog Jungs, Antrim, Dmitry Molosh, D-Nox, GMJ, Jamie Stevens, Mass Digital, Navar, Stereo Underground, Shai T, Weird Sounding Dude and more. Perhaps having the most impact on the label’s meteoric rise however has been beloved Colombian producer Kamilo Sanclemente. Long regarded as one of his country’s premiere progressive house artists, the Cali resident has notched a litany of successes over the last decade. Prolific and consistent in equal measure, Kamilo has earned the praise of electronic tastemakers Guy Mantzur, Hernan Cattaneo, Lee Burridge and Nick Warren, while showcasing his music via All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, The Soundgarden, Replug and more. Affiliated with Clubsonica for some time, Kamilo has operated as one of the label’s A&Rs, while also recording eight originals and six remixes since making his label debut in 2015. Now, for the label’s milestone one hundredth release, it seems only appropriate that Kamilo returns to his comfortable home of Clubsonica to commemorate the occasion with a three-track showcase entitled ‘Stellar Echoes’. 

Selection one finds Kamilo collaborating with Clubsonica label boss and occasional studio partner Juan Pablo Torrez. Together the pair have crafted some of progressive music’s most memorable tracks and now combine their extensive forces once again on ‘Critical Orbit’. Sitting on a modern progressive perch, it’s a marriage of tight manicured beats, swing heavy rhythms, and finely tuned percussion which set the course for otherworldly voices and elastic-like synths to work their magic. Anthemic and energetic in equal measure, the duo lets the listener relish in the groove, as it tastefully cruises across the first movement, before a melodic break elevates mood for an invigorating finale. 

The title selection ‘Stellar Echoes’ finds Kamilo operating in solo captivity as he further cements the EP’s dancefloor minded ethos. Its dynamic drive is anchored by rocketing beats and percussive flashes, tastefully building to a wild-eyed intensity of prismatic melodies and marine-like designs. With a peak-time energy that exudes spirit, Kamilo pulls from his expansive repertoire as the main break takes shape, infusing shimmering synths and warm key-changing basslines with a vortex of drums and effects for the ultimate dancefloor rush.

Continuing to push an emotive narrative, it is ‘Moving Thoughts’ which rounds out the release in fine style. Here, Kamilo’s meticulous design and dreamlike elegance conjure up utopian visions, as operatic voices and wavy melodies layer a bed of pulsating beats and swaying percussion. A spoken word vocal highlights the main break, bringing with it mystery and intrigue, further revealing Kamilo’s creative attitude, before a finale of uplifting sonics breaks into a rich textural rain of melodic colour. A fitting conclusion to an excellent Clubsonica return for Kamilo Sanclemente, one where tasteful execution delivers an oversized emotional response. Highly recommended.

The latest edition of our free download series finds Ezequiel Arias returning for his second appearance. Hailing from Cordoba, the Argentinean artist has grown into one of his country’s most prodigious progressive house talents. Upon making his debut in 2013, Ezequiel became a favourite of both Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Subsequent releases on Plattenbank, Replug, Sudbeat and The Soundgarden followed shortly thereafter and cemented the Argentine’s place amongst the progressive house elite. Ezequiel made his debut on our free download series with the well received ‘2AM’. Written in conjunction with fellow countryman and Sudbeat artists Interaxxis the track featured heavily in the sets of progressive house tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Guy Mantzur and Sahar Z. Now returning for his second appearance Ezequiel unveils his much sought after ‘Private’ remix of Michael A’s ‘Ciklus One’. Originally released on Proton, Ezequiel’s interpretation has been shrouded in mystery after being aired in Hernan’s sets for the better part of a year. 'Cid Inc's Replug Records opens the 2019 summer season by welcoming Alex O'Rion to the label for his debut EP. As one of the Netherlands most highly regarded and sought after artists, the Nijkerk resident has found a home on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, where he has released three artist EPs since making his debut in January of 2018. Also a highly regarded DJ, Alex has programmed music for some of the world's most iconic clubs, namely Ministry Of Sound and Fabric. Now fresh off a Spring release for Nick Warren's Hope Recordings, the Dutch artist lands on Replug for his debut EP entitled 'Marathon'. 

Continuing what has been a remarkable year for Alex is the EP's opener and title selection 'Marathon'. Enticing from the start, it's perfectly sculpted beats are warm and powerful, anchoring what is a rippling, free flowing foundation. Crafted with precision and care, layers of hypnotic percussion are blanketed with swirling atmospherics, ghostly vocal edits and fragmented melodies. Intrigue peaks as the main break unfolds, with hazy harmonic concepts and granular design uniting for an exhilarating apex, before ushering in a groovy drop and emotive finale. 

The journey continues with the driving vibes of 'Blaze'. Immediately captivating, it's billowing bass tones and finely tuned percussion play off a robust rhythmic core, making for a devilish, hip swinging groove. It's hypnotic appeal grows subtly, as vocal fragments and luminous tones add an emotive slant to what is an already mystical storyboard. Almost like a sonic comet, it's fiery energy melts down into a break of muted beats and astral designs, before a collage of tripped out harmonics sets the stage for an otherworldly conclusion.

The release is capped off in fine fashion with the introspective moods of 'L'Arbre Des Contes'. Expertly joining the past to the future, Alex marries sophisticated melodic motifs with meditative rhythms and tranquil textures. It's a unique and highly engaging storyboard, perhaps one of the Dutch artist's most heartfelt to date in fact, a creation to cherish for special occasions and no doubt a highly memorable selection for your dance floor. Groovy and emotive in equal measure, it rounds out what is an astute collection of music from Alex O'Rion, making for yet another extraordinary addition to Replug's impeccable discography. '

'Making their Plaisirs Sonores Records debut are production duo, Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat, with an incredible three track EP called Lonely Space. The Colombian pair have collaborated for quite some time signing tracks to number of labels like Replug and The Soundgarden.

Opening with a cosmic weapon, 'Lonely Space' develops into an epic deep progressive journey filled with beautiful synth melody, female vocal, fx and hypnotic pads. Elegant and hypnotic from the first bar to the last. Next up, 'Orbital' digs deep too. Opening with more low end grunt, melodic arps float lift the mood midway before deep warm pads float into earshot. Musically rich and utterly satisfying. Finally, Alex O'Rion concludes the EP with an exquisite remix of 'Lonely Space'. Stronger and more intense, sonic fx and melodic patterns are balanced against the percussive bedrock leaving ample room for the main motifs to grow creating a sense of controlled peril.  '

Continuing what has been an incredible year, Alex O'Rion returns to Cid Inc's Replug Records with 'The Long Walk'. Having made his label debut in 2019 with the highly regarded 'Marathon' EP, the Dutch artist also lays claim to releases on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Nick Warren's Hope Recordings. 2020 has proved to be a prolific year for the talented Dutchman, as he now finds himself as the producer of the moment, following a long line of Beatport Top five remixes and notable DJ support. Now firmly allied with the progressive music elite, Alex makes a welcome return to Replug with a three-track artist showcase. 

Getting the release underway and sitting as one of Alex's most emotive productions to date is the title selection 'The Long Walk'. Warm beats and a full, rolling groove set the foundation for a narrative of wistful arps and uniquely tailored percussion. Pushing a poignant narrative, plush tones and hopeful overlays drift across the framework for impassioned moments, before melting down into a glowing centrepiece. Free and flowing, the interlude spans nearly two minutes in length, gently building tension through muted beats and ethereal phrases, before a trail of vocal gates and waves of noise cue a heartfelt finale.

Equally excellent, the second selection 'Mirari' furthers the EP's whimsical appeal. Smooth, elegant and a touch romantic, the 'Day Mix' delights with its creamy tones and elegant motifs. Thoughtful atmospherics carry the dreamlike storyboard, while pulsating bass lines marry surreal melodic concepts, before an expansive break provides the perfect prelude to a gorgeous final act. The 'Night Mix' sits as a worthy alternative with it's darker, dubbier approach, highlighting the main themes in less distinct fashion while delivering the message with a tougher groove and equally fluid narrative. 

Putting on a stamp on this enthralling collection are the surreal melodies and modern architecture of 'Komodo'. Dark and compelling in equal measure, it's a collage of lively percussion, sprawling synth phrases and otherworldly effects which captivate across the seven-minute journey. Prophetic themes and siren-like synths expand the musical narrative across a cavernous break, gently washing over a rumbling underbelly, heightening the senses and ultimately closing the release out on a mystical note.

As Alex O'Rion continues to navigate a landmark year, his latest Replug vehicle 'The Long Walk' is sure to unite progressive music fans with his undeniable blend of talent, craft and technique.
