A notable highlight in the Meanwhile production catalogue, Jamie Stevens provided a slice of sonic magic in mid-2022 with his “Circles” EP. Now revisiting the 3-track offering, a trio of remixes come from high-profile artists across three continents.

Hernan Cattaneo & Marcelo Vasami need little introduction to anyone with a passion for underground house. The Argentinean, a household name, regularly plays to audiences in the tens of thousands across South America and beyond, while his Sudbeat Music imprint is at the forefront of the electronic music scene. Widely known as “El Maestro”, Hernan’s reputation is assured. Similarly, Marcelo Vasami has been a renowned figure for over a decade with his music on the likes of Plattenbank, Afterglow, Replug and Sudbeat. Joining forces for their Meanwhile debut, the Hernan Cattaneo & Marcelo Vasami remix of “Stuck on a Feeling” immediately captures the light melodic eloquence of the original while adding a plethora of new production layers, not least in a sublime new bassline progression and crisp rolling percussive groove. Familiar refrains and the vocal so prominent in the original, come to the fore as textured and ethereal pads provide an enchanted moment in the final movement.

A growing force under his progressive house guise with releases on Lost & Found, Sudbeat Music and Mango Alley, Mike Rish has hit upon a formula for success since early work for UGENIUS. December 2021 provided the Melbourne resident with the opportunity to make his Mark on GMJ & Matter’s imprint as he released his impressive musical triptych, “Beyond”. Now returning for a debut remix, the Mike Rish reworking of “Storm Front” is characterised by a deep and chunky bass groove that sits perfectly within a popping, wood-block top-line with its roots firmly in Jamie Stevens’ original. Evolving with ease, smooth production elements from the Mike Rish studio make their presence felt before a richly sustained bassline assumes a prominent role in the second half to superb effect.

Navar has been at the forefront of the underground dance scene for more than 15 years with his imaginative approach and immaculately honed sound. 200 production credits are testament to that fact, for such esteemed imprints as Balance, microCastle and Guy J’s Lost & Found. November 2022’s “Return of the Sun” illuminated Meanwhile in late 2022 as the Dutch star returns for a second remix outing. Reworking the title track, the Navar interpretation is a sparkling jewel that transforms “Circles” into a glorious, arpeggio-laden offering that shimmers with delays and delicate rhythmic cadence in the early stages. Building imperceptibly with bass groove and vocal breaths from the original, it erupts at the mid-point with a driving beat that provides a spine-tingling dancefloor juxtaposition to the smooth melodic sequences, capturing the hypnotic character of Jamie’s work.

Three new remixes see Hernan Cattaneo & Marcelo Vasami, Mike Rish and Navar create another set of magic “Circles” for Jamie Stevens.

The latest edition of our free download series finds Ezequiel Arias returning for his second appearance. Hailing from Cordoba, the Argentinean artist has grown into one of his country’s most prodigious progressive house talents. Upon making his debut in 2013, Ezequiel became a favourite of both Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Subsequent releases on Plattenbank, Replug, Sudbeat and The Soundgarden followed shortly thereafter and cemented the Argentine’s place amongst the progressive house elite. Ezequiel made his debut on our free download series with the well received ‘2AM’. Written in conjunction with fellow countryman and Sudbeat artists Interaxxis the track featured heavily in the sets of progressive house tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Guy Mantzur and Sahar Z. Now returning for his second appearance Ezequiel unveils his much sought after ‘Private’ remix of Michael A’s ‘Ciklus One’. Originally released on Proton, Ezequiel’s interpretation has been shrouded in mystery after being aired in Hernan’s sets for the better part of a year. Now after much demand the track is finally available as an exclusive free download. We hope you enjoy it.

Next up on Sudbeat the return of the uprising star Ezequiel Arias with his second full release after an incredible debut EP that’s still one of the best seller on the label.
Ezequiel has also been featured on “El Maestro” Hernan Cattaneo’s recent Balance mix album. In keeping with that theme, the B side track ‘Rotator’ comes with a bonus day mix version.

Title track ‘Globular’ leads the way though. From the bedrock of solid kick and percussion comes a glorious, musical melodies, ethereal pads and a rubbery bassline that adds bags of soul. ‘Rotator’ in original form is a vibrant, upbeat affair. Galloping bass adds forward momentum from the first bar, which is soon joined by sweeps, FX and killer hook in the break. The day mix of ‘Rotator’ begins in ambience. Broken beats usher in pads and percussive layers slowly as the track builds up to its ethereal climax.

In celebration of Replug’s ten year anniversary Cid Inc & Orsen present their debut collaboration alongside remixes from Nick Muir and Barry Jamieson. Founded in 2009 by Finnish artist and DJ Henri Hurtig aka Cid Inc., Replug has carefully forged a path to progressive music excellence. Through releasing much of Henri’s most sought after material to the genre’s freshest artists, the label has continued to flourish and forever has it’s finger on the pulse of the movement. Having already released his ‘Look Twice’ EP in March of 2015, it was January of 2016 which saw UK born, Austria based artist Dan Baseley aka Orsen take over the label’s managerial duties. A key moment in Replug's journey, as Cid Inc’s tour schedule and mastering service had left him less time to focus on the label. Moving forward the duo proved to be a great team, with Replug furthering itself as a premiere destination for progressive music’s most sought after talent. Now in what has been a remarkable decade long journey, it seems only appropriate that Cid Inc and Orsen unite to commemorate the occasion with the aptly titled ‘Ten’. 

From the opening bars of ‘Ten’ you get an immediate sense of how strong the creative synergy is between Cid Inc and Orsen. Powerful and inviting, it’s warm foundation is full of contour and character, while a buzzing tone and rugged design build tension as the narrative takes shape. Hitting early, a short break serves to introduce an astral arp, playing off the rhythmic elements and adding further cadence to already swing heavy groove. Spanning over a minute in length, it is the second and final break which provides a unique contrast of emotion and drama. As modulation reaches a feverous peak, impassioned chord changes offset the metallic wall, before getting washed away into a wave of cosmic effects as the groove drops for a thunderous finale.
