What happens when a Filipino classic meets a junglist’s touch? @ezzrei flips her grandmother’s favorite song, “Ang Daigdig Ko’y Ikaw” by the iconic Celeste Legaspi, into a deep and dubby junglist love letter.

From harana to halftime, this jungle flip of Ang Daigdig Ko’y Ikaw turns slow-dance feels into full-body grooves.

“Ang Daigdig Ko’y Ikaw” (translated: “You Are My World”) is a timeless Filipino love song originally popularized in the late 1960s by Fernando Poe Jr. and Susan Roces in a film of the same name. Later covered by many artists, Celeste Legaspi’s version stands out for its rich, expressive vocals and orchestral arrangement that captured the sweeping, cinematic emotion of Filipino romance during the golden age of OPM

Ang Daigdig Ko'y Ikaw  (Jungle  Edit) - FREE DOWNLOAD

"Hum of the Universe Itself,” is a storm blooming in slow motion. This atmospheric jungle cut samples Lonnie Liston Smith’s “Night Flower” into a celestial bass ritual: drifting ambient textures and a slow buildup that can be felt before heard.

Ezzrei’s touch is cinematic. The original sample doesn’t sit behind the drums. It leads them, glowing like a signal fire through the haze.

Hum of the Universe Itself (160 Jungle)

This 140 BPM dubstep cut draws on a lineage of post-dubstep experimentation and my love for Tagalog post-war ballads. I sampled the hook from  Celeste Legaspi's “Diwa’y Nag-iisip" and reworked the original intro. I used the hi-hat riff (you'll know what it is) throughout, which inspired the draping drum patterns here and there. I sliced parts of the horns and her voice, too. 

I wanted to hold onto a lot of its elements but also tried to stay minimal. I would say it's my most feminine track to date.  Hah

No Love (140)

“Don’t Ask When” twists 140 into something deliberate: snarling sublines, splintered percussion, and melodies that glint through the grit. Beneath it all, a lattice of percussive fragments and melodic dust builds tension in the gaps, giving each hit its own gravity.

Produced by Ezzrei, one of the few artists shaping dubstep from the Philippines, the track captures a tactile energy from the sub’s slow grind to the flicker of reverb in the high end.

My track for the Sounds Nais Vol. 6. Compilation

This track is my ode to jazz spaces and their effect on me. After a short period marked by personal loss, including losing my home and my father within two months, I felt unmoored. On my birthday that year, I went to a jazz bar and let the music hold me. That night changed my relationship to myself. Jazz resets me. In those moments, I return to a childlike sense of curiosity and hope, fully present and alert to life again.

Ezzrei, born Camille Banzon, is a Manila-based DJ, producer, and cultural strategist at the forefront of the Philippines’ underground bass scene. Her sets weave intricate melodies, precise rhythmic work, and bass-forward selections, moving seamlessly across styles while maintaining tension and flow. At 140 and 160 BPM, her productions are atmospheric and texturally rich, building pressure in dubstep and shaping velocity in jungle and breaks. Across all tempos, she uses sound system music as a framework for clarity, function, and expressive depth.
